'Iron Man 3' Wins Box Office Weekend Over 'The Great Gatsby'

Robert Downey, Jr.‘s Iron Man 3 held strong for the second week in a row, topping this weekend’s box office with $72.5 million grossed.

According to THR, the film, which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, has brought in a whopping $285 million total so far.

Coming in at number two was the 3D adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s novel “The Great Gatsby” – starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire – which brought in an impressive $51.1 million in its debut weekend.

Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s action/comedy film Pain & Gain claimed the number three spot with $5 million earned.

Tyler Perry Presents: Peeples, starring Kerry Washington and Craig Robinson, and Harrison Ford‘s 42 rounded out the top four and five spots with $4.9 million and $4.7 million earned, respectively.
