Donald Trump Unveils Logo For US Space Force & It Looks An Awful Lot Like The 'Star Trek' Starfleet Command Insignia
President Donald Trump just revealed the official logo for the newest branch of the military, the U.S. Space Force.
“After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military!” he announced on Twitter, along with the image.
But the logo looks very familiar to fans, and even more familiar to Star Trek star George Takei.
“Ahem. We are expecting some royalties from this…,” George pointed out as soon as the logo was introduced, picking up on the similiaries to the Starfleet Command logo that was used on Star Trek.
One fan poked fun at the logo, writing, “To boldly go where someone has gone before.”
“Starfleet called. They want their insignia back,” another user commented.

I don't see a problem with the Space Force logo looking like the Starfleet logo.
They're both fiction anyway.#SpaceForce #StarTrek #Starfleet pic.twitter.com/7fXcJjrnq3

Can CBS sue the military for ripping off Starfleet? Genuine question. https://t.co/5vwniFRk2t

Kudos to the E4 media specialist who drew this up and thought, “There’s no way this Starfleet logo will get approved, but I have to give it a shot.” pic.twitter.com/YUmfX5AxOs

You have to steal from Star Trek now? Is it not enough you consistently receive cease & desist orders for using songs from various musicians including Prince & Queen while violating their copyrights? @ViacomCBS have you seen this?

I got excited when I saw your logo because it proves you are a rip-off artist.

Swell, now taxpayers get to pay for lawyers when you're sued by Paramount and the Roddenberry estate… pic.twitter.com/hd7RM20BYZ
