'Harry Potter's Bonnie Wright & Evanna Lynch Release More Reactions to JK Rowling's Anti-Trans Tweets

JK Rowling has come under fire this week for her transphobic tweets where she shared her thoughts about an article that stated “gender non-binary persons menstruate.”

The Harry Potter author then wrote “‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”

Many celebs, even stars from her own movies, have spoken out about her anti-trans stance, condemning her.

Bonnie Wright and Evanna Lynch, who played Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood in the popular film franchise, have both released statements regarding her comments.

“If Harry Potter was a source of love and belonging for you, that love is infinite and there to take without judgment or question. Transwomen are Women. I see and love you,” Bonnie shared on her Twitter.

Meanwhile, Evanna shared a longer response to JK‘s comments and also defended the author as well.

She wrote that she was “so saddened to see trans people feeling abandoned by the HP community…I imagine that being trans and learning to accept and love yourself is challenging enough, and we as a society should not be adding to that pain.”

Evanna went on, “I disagree with her opinion that cis women are the most vulnerable minority in this situation and I think she’s on the wrong side of this debate, but that doesn’t mean she has completely lost her humanity.”
