'The Old Guard' End Credits Scene Explained: Who Was That?! (Spoilers)

The new movie The Old Guard was just released on Netflix and it’s bound to be a big hit for the streaming service. Even though it’s a Netflix movie, the film actually has a scene that happens after the credits!

This post is going to contain some spoilers from the movie’s ending, so beware of reading any further.

The Old Guard follows a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries, led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), with a mysterious inability to die. The team has fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (KiKi Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary.

So, what happens in that post-credits scene? You might be wondering who the woman that appeared was and we have the answer.

Click inside for spoilers on what happens at the end…

Near the end of the movie, the team was betrayed by Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts), who helped Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) capture Andy and deliver both of them to Merrick (Harry Melling) so that they could be used for medical research.

In the end, the team does escape from Merrick’s lab and kills him. Andy, who has seemingly lost her immortal powers, tells Booker that his punishment is spending the next 100 years alone. She and the rest of the team recruit Copley to work for them and help erase their digital footprint in the years to come.

After the title card is shown at the end of the film, another scene happens!

We see Booker entering a building and encountering a woman… it’s Quynh (Veronica Ngo). You might remember that she was Andy’s original partner and they fought in battles together for years. They were captured and the captors realized they couldn’t be killed, so they separated them. Quynh was locked in an iron box and thrown into the ocean. We saw that she continuously would drown, come back to life, drown again, come back to life, and so on. Hundreds of years have gone by and Andy has not been able to find her.

Well, Quynh has escaped! When she shows up in Booker’s home, she tells him, “Booker, it’s nice to finally meet you.”

While it’s unclear what she’s been up to, it definitely seems like she’ll be part of a possible sequel if Netflix decides to make one. There’s a strong possibility that Quynh is angry with Andy for giving up on finding her, so they might be enemies in the next movie.

We dug up one of Charlize‘s old interviews in which she opened up about the crazy injury she suffered while filming the movie… which she didn’t get treated for two months!
