The movie’s success is due largely from drive-in theaters amid the pandemic, while movie theaters remain closed. It’s been 18 weeks since the major chains closed their doors.

Beauty and the Beast was the best-selling movie of 2017, garnering over $1.26 billion in global ticket sales.

“Its a fantastic feeling to be part of such a well loved movie. Beauty and the Beast is number one again, 174 weeks after it was first released world wide. 💥 🙏🏼,” Luke Evans reacted to the news.

And if you’re looking for some streaming options at home, Netflix just announced the full list of movies and TV shows hitting the service in August.
