Taylor Swift's Fans Think 'William Bowery' Is Actually Joe Alwyn's Pseudonym

Taylor Swift says that two of the songs on her new album Folklore were co-written by someone named William Bowery, but fans think this is a pseudonym for someone special in her life!

The 30-year-old singer announced the surprise album on Thursday morning (July 23) and she mentioned on Instagram, “I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine.”

Taylor said that she wrote two songs with “William Bowery,” but fans can’t find any information about someone with that name. He’s also the only writer to not be tagged in the Instagram post. There seems to be a connection between the name and Taylor‘s longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn though!

Joe‘s great-grandfather was named William Alwyn and he was a composer, conductor, and music teacher. Also, Taylor and Joe have previously stayed at the Bowery hotel in New York City. Perhaps they combined those two names into a pseudonym?!

Taylor has some history with using pseudonyms and she famously used one for this project in 2016.
