Eddie Murphy Is 'Floating' After Winning His First Emmy Award

Eddie Murphy is a first time Emmy winner!

The 59-year-old actor picked up his first trophy from the Television Academy this weekend, winning for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his Saturday Night Live hosting gig.

Eddie won the honor over Adam Driver, Luke Kirby, Dev Patel, Brad Pitt, and the late Fred Willard.

After hearing that he won, Eddie recorded a special message and showed off his Emmy, which sits next to his Grammy, and some other awards.

“Thank you to everybody at the Emmys,” he shared. “Thank you so much for giving me an Emmy. I don’t have an Emmy. It’s been 40 years since I started Saturday Night Live, this is my first Emmy, so thank you so much.”

Eddie added, “This was a very, very special thing for me to come back and have the show turn out the way it did. I’m still floating from it.”

This wasn’t the comedian’s first Emmy nomination. Eddie had been nominated four times before, starting in 1983.
