Jimmy Kimmel Delivers Emmys 2020 Monologue to Fake Audience - See His Best Jokes!

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the 2020 Emmy Awards from an empty Staples Center in Los Angeles and he delivered the opening monologue to a fake audience, using a feed from last year’s show.

The talk show host started things off on Sunday night (September 20) by welcoming fans to the “pand-Emmys… You can’t have a virus without a host.”

Jimmy also joked about how the show had no host at least year’s event. He said, “Why are we having an awards show in the middle of a pandemic and what the hell am I doing here? This is the year they decide to have a host?”

Jimmy also talked about the importance of television during the pandemic.

“This has been a miserable year. It’s been a year of division, injustice, disease, zoom school, disaster and death. We’ve been quarantined and locked down, confined to our homes like prisoners. What did we find in that dark and lonely tunnel? We found a friend who is there for us 24 hours a day. Our old pal, television,” he said.

Jimmy joked that Quibi has 10 Emmy nominations, despite it being the “dumbest thing to ever cost a billion dollars.”

While talking about the show Schitt’s Creek, the show’s logo appeared on screen because ABC wouldn’t let him say the title without showing the logo. He joked, “HBO can show us a big blue penis no problem, I can’t stay the word Schitt’s with a C?”

At the end of his monologue, Jimmy showed how there isn’t actually an audience at the event.

“Wait that would mean that I’m up here all alone, just like prom night,” Jimmy joked. “This isn’t a MAGA rally, this is the Emmys.”
