Samira Wiley Jokes About What She'll Wear For Emmy Awards Tonight

The 2020 Emmy Awards are set to air tonight and will be happening virtually – but that won’t stop some from dressing up for the big night.

First time nominee Zendaya previously revealed she’d be pulling out a look for the event, and Samira Wiley just opened up about what you can expect to see her donning for the award show.

Samira is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Moira Strand in The Handmaid’s Tale.

“Honestly, because it’s the Emmys, I don’t want any mistakes so I’m probably gonna put on some pants,” she joked while speaking with People.

After the nominations were revealed and the virtual event was announced, producers sent out a letter to nominees about the dress code.

“Our informal theme for the night is ‘come as you are, but make an effort,’” the statement read. “If you want to be in formal wear, we’d love that, but equally if you’re in the UK and it’s 3am, perhaps you want to be in designer pajamas and record from your bed! We want to work with you to style your moments, but want you to guide us on your levels of comfort – where you want to be, who you want to be with, what you want to wear etc.”

Apart from her look, Samira is grateful to be recognized by her peers again. She first one an Emmy in 2018 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

“Being nominated for an Emmy, there’s nothing like it. It’s the highest thing you can aspire to in my field. If you’re someone who is like ‘Oh, I’m nominated for an Emmy, that’s old,’ I don’t know who you are because it feels amazing to me every time,” Samira said.
