Emmys 2020 Ratings Hit a New, Historic Low

A record-low number of people watched the 2020 Emmy Awards, which went off as a virtual awards show amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show garnered just 6.1 million viewers on Sunday night (September 20), as it went up against an NFL football game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. The NFL game had over 8 million viewers, Deadline reports.

Last year’s Emmys hit a record low at the time with 6.9 million viewers. It looks like, this year was hundreds of thousands of viewers short of that number.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the star-studded event that featured many celebrities – most of whom stayed at home to watch the festivities.
