Florida Senator Rick Scott Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Rick Scott has coronavirus.

The 67-year-old Republican Florida Senator revealed on Friday (November 20) in a statement that he has tested positive amid the pandemic, about a week after he began to self-quarantine.

“After several negative tests, I learned I was positive for COVID-19 this AM. I’m feeling good & experiencing very mild symptoms. I’ll be working from home until it’s safe for me to return to DC. I remind everyone to be careful & do the right things to protect yourselves & others,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Wear a mask. Socially distance. Quarantine if you come in contact with someone positive like I did. We will beat this together, but we all must be responsible. I want to thank all the incredible health care workers who are working around the clock to care for patients.”

The news comes as more lawmakers reveal positive test results, including 87-year-old Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. Rick Scott is the seventh known Senator to test positive for coronavirus.

He announced earlier in the week that he was going to self-quarantine after being exposed to an individual in Florida who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The CDC has put out an urgent statement for Americans ahead of Thanksgiving.
