Cardi B Reveals Why She Didn't Submit 'WAP' For A Grammy

Cardi B isn’t upset about being left off the official Grammys nomination list for 2021.

The 28-year-old rapper revealed in a recent Instagram Live that she’s holding out for the 2022 Grammys, when her full album can be nominated instead.

“Like I said, I never pressed for a Grammy, but y’all not gonna take away something that I know I worked my *ss off [for], that I deserve,” she emphasized in the live video.

Cardi added that if she “was pressed for a Grammy I would’ve submitted ‘WAP’ for this year and I didn’t submit it. I didn’t want to be submitted to award shows until I put out my album because I think my album is so good.”

She went on, teasing that the album “means something and I worked on it a lot. I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years. And some songs are just so emotional to me because I did them during quarantine.”

While Cardi was left off the list this year, her co-collaborator on “WAP”, Megan Thee Stallion, did pick up several, with Record of the Year, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Savage”, and Best New Artist.

Cardi won Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammys for Invasion of Privacy.
