Disney's 'Raya & The Last Dragon' Will Be Released on Disney+ The Same Day as it Hits Theaters

Disney has announced that the highly anticipated animated film Raya and the Last Dragon will be released on the streaming service Disney+ on the same day it hits theaters.

The upcoming movie will become a Disney+ Premiere Access title, which means subscribers will have to pay an additional fee to watch the movie while it’s still in theaters. The streamer did this with Mulan earlier this year.

Raya and the Last Dragon will be released in theaters on March 12, 2021 and it will be available for streaming that day as well.

Disney+ charged an extra $29.99 for unlimited views of Mulan, though it’s unclear what the pricing structure will be for Raya. If you didn’t want to pay the extra money to watch the live-action version of Mulan, we have some good news for you.

Here is the synopsis for Raya: “Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.”

Kelly Marie Tran voices the role of Raya while Awkwafina plays Sisu, the last dragon.
