Broadway Shows in New York City Have an Official Re-Opening Date!

Vaccines are rolling out across the nation and world and now, Broadway has set its sights on a Fall 2021 reopening date.

“Broadway shows will be ready to open September 14 at 100% capacity. Tickets go on sale starting tomorrow,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Twitter. “Broadway is major part of our state’s identity and economy, and we are thrilled that the curtains will rise again.”

Broadway shows have been dark since March 12, 2020, when the Governor shut down all major gatherings in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. The pandemic raged on throughout 2020 as the world awaited vaccines. At the time of the Broadway shut down, there were 31 productions running with 8 new shows in previews and 8 in rehearsals.
