Anna Paquin Recalls the Brutal Conditions Hugh Jackman Worked Under for 'X-Men': 'He Never Complained'

Anna Paquin is looking back at her time working with Hugh Jackman on the X-Men franchise!

The 38-year-old actress played Maria aka Rogue opposite Hugh‘s character Logan aka Wolverine in X-Men, X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand between 2000 to 2006.

Anna talked about her close friendship with her X-Men co-star on an episode of Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show on Wednesday (June 9) and discussed the brutal conditions he worked under on the set of the film.

“Hugh was the person I was always closest with because I had all my scenes with him,” Anna said. “He is still a lovely, gracious human being.”

“He got put through the wringer on that first one and never ever complained,” she continued. “It’s minus 40 [degrees] and he’s being dropped off some building onto his back over and over and over again. And still has all the time in the world to be a nice, normal person.”

She also remembered one hilarious moment the pair shared on set.

“I did, at one point while we were doing the truck stuff in the very beginning, he had his claws out but he’s also supposed to be smoking a cigar, so I did have to pick the cigar out of his teeth because he couldn’t do it with his claws without causing personal damage. But what are friends for?” the True Blood actress joked.

Hugh reflected on his “20 second” audition for Wolverine in an interview last year!
