In attendance at the event were stars Yvette Nicole Brown, Bernard David Jones, Marcel Spears, as well as executive producers Daveed Diggs, Jamie Tarses, James Griffiths, and writer/executive producer Jeremy Bronson.

“I knew Daveed was part of all sorts of community groups and these small collectives doing music together,” Jeremy said during the panel about inspirations for the show. “And then when I read about Chance also starting out doing his poetry in the multi-purpose room of his high school, I thought it was very, very interesting.”

NBC brought out a lot of its stars to speak to the press at the network’s panel during the 2017 TCA Summer Press Tour on Thursday afternoon (August 3) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

In attendance at the event were Superstore‘s America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, and Lauren Ash, America’s Got Talent‘s Tyra Banks, World of Dance‘s Derek Hough, Great News‘ Nicole Richie and Briga Heelan, The Night Shift‘s Brendon Fehr, Marlon‘s Marlon Wayans, Midnight Texas‘ Jason Lewis and Parisa Fitz-Henley, Chicago PD‘s Tracy Spiridakos, The Brave‘s Anne Heche and Sofia Pernas, Hollywood Game Night‘s Jane Lynch, and Law & Order: True Crime‘s Edie Falco, Heather Graham, Miles Gaston Villanueva, and Gus Halper.

Some of the other casts that stopped by the panel included the stars of Will & Grace and This Is Us.

Sean Hayes is opening up about his decision to wait until Will & Grace ended to publicly come out as gay.

The 47-year-old actor was joined by co-stars Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, and Megan Mullally to talk about the show’s revival at the NBC portion of the 2017 TCA Summer Press Tour on Thursday (August 3) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

“I’ve become hopefully more self-aware about [myself and my] place in the world – I wasn’t ready to come out then,” Sean said (via TheWrap). The outlet says he regrets not coming out during the show’s original run.

“It’s nobody’s business what anybody’s sexual orientation is, and I thought that Sean really took a lot of heat and was under a great amount of pressure to come out, and I was offended by that,” Megan said.

Sean added, “At the time, I didn’t have the DNA to speak for an entire community. I didn’t know how to do that, and I wish I did. But now I find words come easy.”

The upcoming series Star Trek: Discovery had a bunch of delays and the producers just revealed that one of them was waiting for star Sonequa Martin-Green to become available!

The 32-year-old actress was committed to The Walking Dead and AMC wouldn’t let her join another series until her death on that show was made public.

Sonequa opened up about her gratitude for being on the show while joining cast members Jason Isaacs, James Frain, and Mary Chieffo, as well as executive producers like Alex Kurtzman at the 2017 TCA Summer Press Tour on Tuesday (August 1) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

“The honor is mine. The pleasure is mine. I feel that we are all running over—our cups are running over with gratitude and excitement,” Sonequa said about being the first minority female to be a lead on a Star Trek show (via E! News). “We’re bursting at the seams from the weight of it and the breadth of it. We just—we couldn’t be more thrilled to share this journey with you because we understand its significance. We know we’re telling a story we believe in. Everybody is so passionate…This is an epicly grand, yet microscopically tuned, deeply emotional story. We don’t take it for granted. We don’t take it lightly. I certainly don’t. I feel like—it’s a dream to be able to be a part of history. It’s a dream. So, thank you.”

Jim Parsons is joined on stage by his younger counterpart Iain Armitage at the Young Sheldon panel during the 2017 TCA Summer Press Tour on Tuesday (August 1) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Iain is playing the younger version of Jim‘s character on The Big Bang Theory on the upcoming CBS comedy series.

“We have a lot more in common now than I would have had at the same age. I wasn’t mature enough at 9,” Jim said about Iain. “I was not an overly bright child. I was mediocre. I didn’t befuddle my parents. That came much later, with my sexuality. Iain is much more in control as a human being than I was.”

“I’m not sure that’s true,” Iain added, according to USA Today.

Also in attendance was Zoe Perry, who is playing the younger version of Sheldon’s mom Mary, a character played by her real-life mom Laurie Metcalf on The Big Bang Theory.

Joanne Froggatt has something to say about those Downton Abbey movie rumors!

While promoting her new show Liar with co-star Ioan Gruffudd at the TCA summer press panel on Saturday (July 29), the 36-year-old actress said that she hasn’t heard anything new on the potential movie.

“Selfishly, it would be great to get together for ten weeks and have a little reunion,” Joanne told Variety. “But in all honesty, I have no idea. I absolutely have no idea. There’s been talk, there’s been conversations, but nothing has happened. We’re all sort of leaving it up to the gods. We have no information.”

Since popular show ended back in 2015, rumors have been swirling that that a movie would be coming soon – and the cast is totally on board.

“I think we’d all like to do it,” Joanne said. “For me, the show finished in a great place and a great time. We finished on a high. Everything must come to an end, all good things must come to an end. I was very happy with where we left it.”

Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies sit on stage during the Starz portion of the 2017 TCA Summer Press Tour on Friday afternoon (July 28) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The Outlander stars were joined by castmates Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin, as well as showrunner Ronald D. Moore and executive producer Maril Davis, to talk about season three.

Sam Heughan was not able to make it to the event, but he appeared live via satellite!

The longevity of the hit series was brought up and the producers said they will continue making the show as long as Starz will let them, and as long as author Diana Gabaldon has stories to tell, which doesn’t seem to be a problem.

“I cannot imagine a scenario where we catch up with Diana Gabaldon. She will tell us the end of the story,” Moore said (via Variety).
