Dodgers Officially Sign Shohei Ohtani, Full Press Release Revealed (Including His First Statement)

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially announced that Shohei Ohtani has been signed to a 10-year contract with the team.

The beloved baseball player, who has been compared to the legendary Babe Ruth, signed a historic $700 million contract with the team, which marks the biggest payday in baseball history.

Salary details were left out of the official press release, but we just learned that Ohtani will be deferring most of his salary, earning just $2 million a year while he’s playing for the team. We have more details on when he’ll get the rest of his money!

Shohei Ohtani is going to be earning $700 million over the next 10 years while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he’s not going to see most of that money for a long time.

A new report has revealed the financial terms of Ohtani‘s deal with the Dodgers and he has agreed to defer the bulk of his salary until years from now.

Ohtani will be deferring more than 97% of his paycheck and will just receive $2 million a year from the Dodgers while playing for them, instead of the $100 million he’s entitled to receive.
