Broadway's Next Fanny Brice: Who Should Replace Beanie Feldstein in 'Funny Girl'? Vote in Our Poll!

It was just announced that Beanie Feldstein will be leaving the Broadway production of Funny Girl in September and her replacement will be named on a later date.

Beanie is the first actress to originate the role in a Broadway production since Barbra Streisand opened the original staging in 1964.

Now, Beanie will be handing off the role to a new actress and we’re trying to figure out who might be next!

The logical choice right now is Julie Benko, who is currently serving as Beanie‘s standby and has been performing the role for the past week during her COVID-19 absence. There’s also Lea Michele, who was long-rumored to lead a Broadway production of Funny Girl after performing many of the songs on Glee.

Sutton Foster Wins Special Award for Best Performance of the Entire Broadway Season!

Sutton Foster just won one of the biggest honors in the Broadway community!

The two-time Tony-winning actress was presented the Distinguished Performance Award during the 2022 Drama League Awards on Friday afternoon (May 20) in New York City.

The annual awards show honors just one acting performance for the entire theatrical season, encompassing all of Broadway and off-Broadway.

Sutton won the award for her performance in The Music Man and her co-star Hugh Jackman received the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre award. Actors can only win the Distinguished Performance Award once in their career and Hugh won almost 20 years ago for starring in Broadway’s The Boy From Oz, so he was ineligible for The Music Man.

Funny Girl's Beanie Feldstein Reveals She Received a Letter From Barbra Streisand

Beanie Feldstein is opening up about a cherished letter.

The 28-year-old actress made an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday (April 12).

During her appearance, she discussed taking on the role of Fanny Brice in the new Broadway revival of Funny Girl.

She revealed that she received a note from Barbra Streisand before they began performances.

“I was in my dressing room the night before first preview and I got a piece of mail and it just said, ‘For Beanie‘ on it. I opened it and it was from Barbra Streisand,” she said.

“I never met her before and it was a really beautiful, touching thing that I will keep at my side at my table getting ready forever.”

Barbra starred in the original Broadway production in 1964, and made her film debut reprising her Broadway role as Fanny Brice in the 1968 movie.

It was recently revealed that a big star is joining another Broadway revival.
