President Biden & Vice President Harris Address the Nation After George Floyd Murder Trial

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are addressing the nation.

The President and the Vice President gave a speech on Tuesday night (April 20) following the guilty verdict given to Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd.

“Today we feel a sigh of relief, still, it cannot take away the pain. A measure of justice isn’t the same as equal justice. This verdict brings us a step closer, and the fact is, we still have work to do. We still must reform the system,” the Vice President said.

“Black men, in particular, have been treated throughout the course of our history as less than human…their lives must be valued in our education system, in our healthcare system, in our housing system, in our economic system, in our criminal justice system, in our nation. Full stop,” she continued.

Black Lives Matter Founders React To Nobel Peace Prize Nomination

Black Lives Matter has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

The movement and organization – which was founded by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi in 2013 – was nominated by Norwegian parliament member Petter Eide for the honor.

“Black Lives Matter has become a very important worldwide movement to fight racial injustice,” he wrote in a statement to the Nobel committee. “For the Nobel Prize Committee, this is not unusual to link a fight for (racial) justice, to link that with peace. There will be no peace without justice.”

He continued, saying that Black Lives Matter is “the strongest global force against racial injustice” and thinks awarding them the prize will send a ”powerful message that peace is founded on equality, solidarity and human rights.”

The organization reacted to the nomination on Twitter.

“We hold the largest social movement in global history. Today, we have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. People are waking up to our global call: for racial justice and an end to economic injustice, environmental racism, and white supremacy,” it said.

They added, “We’re only getting started.”

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be selected in October 2021 with the award ceremony currently scheduled for December.

Real Housewives' Claudia Jordan Says She Was Fired From Biagio Cru & Estate Wines for Black Lives Matter Support

Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Claudia Jordan says she was fired in 2018 while working with Biagio Cru and Estate Wines over her support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The 47-year-old claims she was “wrongfully fired in late 2018 public support of justice for Black people and speaking out against unlawful police treatment,” TMZ reports.

Claudia says she entered into an agreement in 2016 to promote the brand’s Just Peachy. Claudia claims she really helped boost their sales, and all of a sudden in 2018, after she supported the movement publicly, she was cut off. She also claims Biagio said her posts about Black Lives Matter were “too slanted.” She is also claiming the company is still using their association to their advantage despite cutting her off financially.

The company responded, saying they ended their relationship due to “legitimate, non-discriminatory reasons; namely, dissatisfaction with Ms. Jordan’s ability to boost sales in relevant markets.”

They added that they will “vigorously defend against the false claims asserted by Ms. Jordan and will pursue any and all appropriate legal actions associated with false and defamatory statements published by Ms. Jordan.”

Claudia once made headlines for saying this celebrity’s mom punched her on the red carpet.
