Camilla Luddington is setting the record straight on the masks that she and her co-stars are wearing on the new season of Grey’s Anatomy.

After getting back to work on the show in September, and the premiere happening just last week, one viewer pointed out that the cast were seen wearing KN95 masks and that they didn’t need to be “wasting” them when they could be donated to real life healthcare professionals.

“If you see any of us wearing KN95s behind the scenes it’s because we are wearing our costume masks. We don’t also get an extra KN95 to wear between takes,” Camilla pointed out.

Major fans of the show will remember that Grey’s was one of the first to donate all the supplies they had to first responders when the pandemic first wave took over.

“Shonda [Rhimes] sort of handed over all of our masks and hospital gowns — everything we had,” Kim Raver shared in March about how the pandemic impacted the show and how they gave back. “I was in New York doing Third Watch on 9/11, and [the producers] did the same thing, donating lights and anything else that they could use at Ground Zero. In these moments, I really believe that the good comes out [in people].”

Camilla Luddington is dishing on the Grey’s Anatomy season premiere!

During a new interview with E! News, the 36-year-old actress talked about the surprising ending moment that featured the return of Patrick Dempsey‘s Dr. Derek Shepherd, revealing that she was one of the lucky ones that knew about his return.

“I found out from [showrunner] Krista [Vernoff],” Camilla shared. “I didn’t know that some actors didn’t know. I thought we all knew, but I guess we didn’t.”

Camilla also recalled how in the premiere script, it said that Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) would be the one to meet Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) on the beach, but admitted it didn’t feel right.

“There’s something about this…this is weird,” Camilla remembers thinking. “And then Krista told me it was Patrick, and I was thinking to myself there’s no way these two actors are going to go to the beach in the middle of the day with a ton of crew and a picture isn’t gonna be taken, or it’s not gonna leak, or someone’s not gonna say something. And it didn’t. I’m so happy because it would have spoiled this amazing surprise for the fans last night.”

Grey’s Anatomy‘s Camilla Luddington and her husband Matthew Alan have welcomed their second child together – a baby boy named Lucas!

“After what felt like a year long third trimester… it finally happened!! Matt and I are SOOO happy to announce the birth of our sweet baby BOY Lucas, otherwise known as my little lion 🦁 (shoutout to Leo’s!),” Camilla posted on her Instagram, along with a photo!

The couple are also parents to three-year-old daughter Hayden. Stay tuned as we hopefully get more photos of the little one!

Meanwhile, Camilla had some great news just a few weeks ago.

Congrats to the happy couple on the wonderful news of their newborn baby boy!

Grey’s Anatomy fans can seemingly expect the show to remain on the air for several more years because three of the series regulars just signed on for three more seasons!

Kim Raver, Kevin McKidd, and Camilla Luddington all signed new contracts to appear in three more seasons of the hit ABC series and Deadline reports that they’ll get “significant salary bumps.”

The three seasons including the upcoming season 17.

Ellen Pompeo‘s current contract will expire at the end of season 17 and she’s reportedly in the middle of negotiating a new two-year deal!

ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said last month, “I’m hopeful that Grey’s Anatomy stays a part of our schedule. They certainly know that we’d like it to be part of our schedule for as long as they are interested in making more episodes.”

Burke has also said that Grey’s Anatomy will remain on the air for as long as Ellen will do the show!

Camilla Luddington is pregnant again!

The 36-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress announced on Monday (March 9) that she and husband Matthew Alan are expecting their second child together.

Camilla revealed the exciting news by sharing an Instagram post from Disneyland of Cinderella looking gleefully at Camilla‘s growing bump.

“Me: ‘I’m just gonna do a super casual pregnancy announcement,’” Camilla wrote. “Also me: ‘I NEED PRINCESSES!!!!!! Okay so… Matt and I are so happy to fiiiiinally post after months of “hiding” that i am pregnant! We are beyond excited to add to our little family and give Hayden a sibling.”

Camilla and Matt welcomed their first daughter Hayden back in 2017.

If you missed it, Camilla Luddington recently teased what’s ahead for Jo Karev on Grey’s Anatomy.

Camilla Luddington is ready for Jo Wilson-Karev’s future on Grey’s Anatomy.

On Saturday (March 7), the 36-year-old actress took to Instagram to share a photo of herself reading an future script for the show, just days after her on-screen husband Alex Karev’s (played Justin Chambers) final episode aired.

“Reading ‘Dear Jo…’ like..,” Camilla captioned the below shot of herself lounging by the pool.

A fan then commented on the post writing, “I love that we still have Jo can’t wait to see whats next for her.”

Camilla then wrote back, ‘Omg me too! The scripts for Jo this season are 😮😮! JUST. WAIT.”

In this past Thursday’s episode, we found out that Alex will not be returning to his wife Jo and he has instead reunited with his ex-wife Izzie (played by Katherine Heigl), who secretly gave birth to their twins a decade ago.

The reaction from fans to this conclusion to Karev’s storyline has been very mixed, with some hardcore fans very upset by what happened. 50% of our readers voted in our poll that they would’ve ended things differently.

Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen keep close as they arrive at the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party on Saturday afternoon (January 4) at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.

The 43-year-old actress kept things chic in an all black outfit while the 48-year-old actor looked cool in a striped shirt and plaid pants for the event.
