Rita Moreno is being honored at Variety’s Power of Women Presented by Lifetime event.

The 89-year-old West Side Story actress gave an empowering speech about encouraging women to work together during the event on Thursday night (September 30) at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, Calif.

“My hope is that as more women, like the ones honored here tonight, gain positions of power and influence, they continue to keep the fires burning for those who aspire,” Rita said on stage. “We live in a time that requires us to be vigilant. As women, many issues require our attention in these dark days — when our leaders politicize the wearing of masks and polarize our citizens over vaccines; when in the mind of many, climate change is science fiction and healthcare is still not codified as a basic human right in a divided America.”

“None of us can take on the world by ourselves, but if there is one thing I am sure of in my 90 years, it is the power of a sisterhood of women working for change,” Rita added. “Life grows within us and we are its caretakers – we are heavily invested! I believe all women have the potential to bloom where they are planted.”

Chelsea Peretti exited her role as a series regular on Brooklyn Nine-Nine after season five, but she still made a handful of appearances in the sixth season of the hit comedy series.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine moved from Fox to NBC in season six and the new network has already renewed the series through season eight.

The new season just premiered and one of the show’s stars, Terry Crews, opened up about whether or not we’ll see Chelsea this year.

“As far as I understand, I think she’s always in the family. She came back a couple times last season, which was awesome. I didn’t see her this season, but with season eight, there’s always something,” he told People. “You gotta understand one thing about Brooklyn Nine-Nine. We are a family. And it’s almost like one of our family members went off to college. It’s no beef, it’s all good. These are my brothers and my sisters in every way. Chelsea is one of the most talented women on television. No doubt.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jordan Peele received major honors at the BAFTA Britannia Awards!

The duo stepped out at the award ceremony on Friday night (October 25) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

During the ceremony, Donald Glover presented Phoebe with Artist of the Year while Jordan was given the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing by Lupita Nyong’o.

Other honorees included Norman Lear, presented with the Excellence in Television award by Kerry Washington, and Jackie Chan, who was given the award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment.

Additional attendees included Taron Egerton, Jamie Bell, and Jordan‘s wife Chelsea Peretti.

Lupita Nyong’o is joined by director Jordan Peele and co-star Winston Duke at the premiere of Us on Tuesday night (March 19) at the MoMA in New York City.

The stars were joined at the event by co-stars Tim Heidecker, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon, and Ashley Mckoy.

The new horror film is the follow-up to Jordan‘s Oscar-winning movie Get Out and it hits theaters this weekend. The movie has a terrific 99% on Rotten Tomatoes right now!

Jordan was joined at the event by his wife Chelsea Peretti.

The Oscars are being presented without a host for the first time in 30 years. The show kicks off at 8pm EST/5pm PST on ABC.
