Chicago Med is one of the hottest TV shows around.
The medical series, co-created by Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, follows the emergency department (ED) doctors and nurses of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center as they work to nurse patients back to health and save their lives.
It also includes crossovers with the other Chicago-based shows in the franchise, including Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

Every year, it feels like more and more stars exit Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med (aka, the One Chicago franchise).
Now, one of the showrunners is giving more insight into the decisions.
“Honestly, longevity is really just part of it,” Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman said during an interview with TVLine. “[In] storytelling and in terms of real life, 12 years is a long time and things need to change, just dynamic-wise. You want new characters and you want new dynamics.”
Andrea explained, “Actor-wise, 12 years is a long [time]. Nobody expects in TV [that] they’re going to be anywhere for 12 years, I can say that for sure, from all sides.”

The One Chicago shows – Chicago Med, Chicago PD, and Chicago Fire – as well as the Law & Order shows – Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: Organized Crime – are back on NBC this week!
The One Chicago shows will return on January 17, while the Law & Order shows are back on the 18th.
However, fans might be interested to hear about the episode counts that NBC has planned for the shows. Unfortunately, fans might not be happy as there will be shorter episode counts than usual.
