Cody Simpson‘s first Olympic trial has come to an end!
The 24-year-old competed in two events this week, with his preferred event, the 100-meter butterfly, taking place on Thursday (June 17) in Adelaide, Australia.
Earlier in the week, Cody also competed in the 100-meter freestyle.

Cody Simpson just competed in his first swimming trial for the 2021 Summer Olympics!
The 24-year-old singer is taking a break from his music career to focus on his goal of competing on Australia’s swimming team for the Olympics.
Cody competed in the 100 freestyle trial and he finished 23rd out of 92 swimmers. His time of 50.22 seconds was a personal best, but it wasn’t enough for him to advance to the Olympics in that event.
Cody‘s next event, which is his preferred event, is the 100 butterfly.
“I wanted to just get up and do something before the 100 ’fly otherwise I would be waiting around all week,” Cody told the Associated Press. “Just being around all these athletes … I love this, I really want to do this for a while. My goal this meet would be to try to make that final in the 100 ’fly, that would be nice As long as I’m improving, that’s all I can really ask for.”

The 24-year-old musician was spotted practicing for the upcoming Australian Olympic swimming trials on Tuesday (June 8) in Adelaide, Australia.
Cody stopped to chat with a couple of his fellow swimmers during a brief break before hopping back in the pool.
The “Golden Thing” singer has been preparing for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics and will participate in the Olympic trials this weekend, which will determine whether or not he will qualify for the event.
A few months ago, he was seen celebrating with his girlfriend Marloes Stevens after competing in the 2021 Australian Swimming Championships. Cody ultimately made it to the finals, placing in 9th.
Cody recently shared his thoughts on his break up with Miley Cyrus, who he split from in August 2020 after almost a year of dating.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter got candid in an interview with Australia’s 60 Minutes.
During the interview, he discussed the relationship with the Bangerz pop star, which ended after almost a year in August of 2020.

Cody Simpson holds onto girlfriend Marloes Stevens after competing in the 2021 Australian Swimming Championships held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre on Sunday (April 18) in Australia.
The 24-year-old singer and athlete showed off his swimming skills in the Mens 50m Butterfly competition, and made to the finals, where he placed 9th.
“I’m still trying to figure out how to put it all together, still a little rusty out of quarantine. I wasn’t sure if I was going to race this week but figured I’d do the 50m just to start swinging the arms over and see how it goes,” Cody shared in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald. “I was happy to make a final in my first week back. That’s good enough for me at the moment.”
He added that “to make an open final in the first go around is pretty cool, I’ll keep improving as we go. There’s a long way to go but I’ve come a long way in a short amount of time.”
Cody is committed to have a chance to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Cody was spotted in training just days ahead of the event.

Cody Simpson is getting ready to compete at the Australian National Swimming Championships after qualifying for the Olympic trials a few months back…and he’s looking very buff!
The 24-year-old entertainer and athlete showed off his shirtless, chiseled body in a tiny speedo swimsuit while getting ready for his practice. He was also seen chatting with fellow swimmer, Olympic medalist Emily Seebohm at the pool. The pair were doing practices with their trainers on Wednesday (April 14) on Australia’s Gold Coast.
