Colin Hanks is showing fans how they can make their own face masks at home out of a bandana or kerchief!

The 42-year-old actor took to Instagram and provided step-by-step instructions on what to do to transform the bandana into a mask.

The CDC now recommends the “use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure.”

“Hey everyone. I’ve been looking around online for ways to turn your kerchiefs into a face mask. It’s pretty easy. All you need is one kerchief (or bandana roughly 21 x 21 inches) and 2 hair ties or rubber bands if you have those. Here are the steps…” Colin wrote on his Instagram.

Here are the steps below:

• 1. Lay your kerchief face down.
• 2. Fold the top down to the center.
• 3. Fold the bottom to the center.
• 4. Flip the kerchief over and fold the top to the center.
• 5. Fold the bottom of kerchief to the center.
• 6. Put hair ties on both sides of kerchief.
• 7. Fold outer sides of kerchief to center. This is the part that faces your mouth.

Colin Hanks makes his way back to his car after dropping his dog off at the vet on Wednesday afternoon (March 25) in Los Angeles.

The 42-year-old actor took extra precaution while wearing a mask over his face and latex gloves as he stepped out amid the worldwide health crisis.

Just two weeks ago, Colin‘s dad Tom Hanks and step-mom Rita Wilson announced that they had tested positive for the coronavirus and have remained self-quarantined in Australia.

Colin recently took to Instagram to share a selfie while going a little stir-crazy at home.

“Quarantine Day Number:IHAVENOIDEATHEDAYSAREBLURRINGTOGETHERANDNOWIDRESSLIKETHIS,” Colin captioned the below pic.

Colin Hanks, the son of Tom Hanks, has posted an update on how Tom and Rita Wilson are doing amid their diagnosis of Coronavirus.

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone. My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and are doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances,” the 42-year-old actor posted on Instagram. “Despite the fact that I’m in LA and haven’t seen them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and am confident that they will make a full recovery.”

We’re so happy to hear that the Hanks‘ are on their way to a full recovery!

Tom Hanks is surrounded and supported by his family at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 5) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 63-year-old actor walked the red carpet with wife Rita Wilson and his children, Truman Theodore Hanks, Chet Hanks, Elizabeth Ann Hanks and Colin Hanks, and his wife, Samantha Bryant.
