Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo took us to Oz in the very first trailer for their new Wicked movie, and they flew straight from there to the 2024 Super Bowl!
The costars, who play Glinda and Elphaba in the forthcoming musical movies, were spotted arriving at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday (February 11) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
They even coordinated their outfits to tribute their iconic characters.

The first trailer for the Wicked movie has arrived!
Universal Pictures aired the first trailer for Wicked: Part One during the 2024 Super Bowl and you can watch the full clip right here.
Ariana Grande is starring as Glinda and Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo is taking on the role of Elphaba, the characters originated by Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel on Broadway over 20 years ago.
The first trailer didn’t feature any of the songs from the musical and only featured Elphaba’s battle cry from the end of “Defying Gravity” and other brief snippets of the song. We did get glimpses of Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum at the Wizard.
One highlight of the trailer was a glimpse of Dorothy, who is never actually seen in the Broadway show.

The first of two Wicked movies is set to be released in November 2024 and it’s rumored that a trailer will debut during the Super Bowl.
The Broadway musical is being turned into a two-part film adaptation directed by Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu.
Part One is set to be released in theaters on November 27, 2024 and Part Two will follow on November 26, 2025.
We’ve seen some photos of the cast on set and a few official photos have been released, but we haven’t yet seen any official footage from the movie.

The Wicked movies have officially wrapped production and the cast is sharing new photos from set!
Four of the main cast members – Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, and Ethan Slater – have all posted pics to their Instagram accounts to mark the end of filming.
The Broadway musical Wicked is getting a film adaptation that is being split into two movie with Part One being released November 27, 2024 and Part Two hitting theaters November 26, 2025.
Production would have wrapped in summer 2023, but the SAG-AFTRA strike put filming on pause and the cast reunited in January 2024 to complete the 10 final shoot days.

The Wicked movies only had two more weeks of filming remaining when the SAG-AFTRA strike impacted production last year.
The cast was unable to work during the strike and production was paused with only days remaining in the filming process.
It now appears that the Wicked cast is getting ready to resume filming and fans have noticed some clues!

The trailer for Cynthia Erivo‘s new movie has been released.
The 36-year-old Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winner stars alongside Alia Shawkwat in the movie Drift directed by Anthony Chen. Along with starring in the movie, Cynthia also serves as a producer.
Based on the book A Marker To Measure Drift by Alexander Maksik, Drift follows Jacqueline (Erivo), a young refugee, who lands alone and penniless on a Greek island, where she tries first to survive and then to cope with her past. While gathering her strength, she begins a friendship with a rootless tour-guide (Shawkat) and together they find the resilience to forge ahead.

The movie The Color Purple is currently in theaters and winning over audiences around the country!
The film features Celie’s triumphant song “I’m Here,” which is performed by Fantasia Barrino in the movie. She’s reprising her role as Celie after previously playing the character in the Broadway version of The Color Purple back in 2007.
“I’m Here” has been performed around the world and by various talented stars and we’ve rounded up some of the best renditions of the song.
