Daniel Radcliffe Plays Real-Life Prisoner in 'Escape from Pretoria' - Watch The Trailer Here!

Daniel Radcliffe has begun promotion for his new film, Escape from Pretoria!

The 30-year-old actor joined his co-stars Ian Hart, Daniel Webber and Mark Leonard Winter at the special gala screening of Escape From Pretoria held at the Curzon Soho on Sunday (February 16) in London, England.

Daniel and his cast-mates were also joined by writer-director Francis Annan, and the film’s subjects, political prisoners and freedom fighters Tim Jenkin and Stephen Lee.

In the true-life prison story, Daniel Radcliffe and Webber play Tim and Stephen.

Here’s the synopsis: “Based on an extraordinary true story, Escape From Pretoria follows Jenkin and Lee, two white South African twenty-somethings who were branded ‘terrorists’ and imprisoned in 1978 for their involvement in covert anti-apartheid operations for the ANC (African National Congress).”

“Incarcerated in Pretoria Maximum Security Prison, Jenkin and Lee – joined by a fellow inmate – decide to send the regime a clear message and escape. After months of meticulous surveillance, breath-taking ingenuity, and in a race against time as the authorities strengthen the prison security defenses, the group craft wooden keys for each of the ten steel doors between them and freedom.”

Escape from Pretoria is set to hit select theaters in the UK and US on March 6 – Watch the trailer here!
