Darius Rucker‘s attorney is speaking out after the Hootie & the Blowfish singer was arrested on Thursday (February 1) in Williamson County, Tennessee.
The 57-year-old “Wagon Wheel” musician faces three misdemeanor charges – “two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of the state’s vehicle registration law.”

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced the Class of 2024, consisting of 31 celebs who will be receiving stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.
“The Selection Committee which is made up of fellow Walk of Famers, carefully hand-picks a group of honorees each year that represent various genres of the entertainment world,” said Chair and Walk of Famer Ellen K. “The Committee did an amazing job choosing these very talented people. We can’t wait to see each honoree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway!”
Hundreds of celebs were nominated and a committee selected the recipients on June 16. Dates have not been scheduled for these star ceremonies. Recipients have two years to schedule star ceremonies from the date of selection before they expire.

Katy Perry teams up with Darius Rucker for an intimate performance of her new song, “Only Love” at the 2020 American Music Awards.
Airing tonight (November 22) and taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the two musicians sat towards each other on the spotlight illuminated stage to perform the track.
“tonight’s @amas performance is for my father,” Katy shared with her fans on Instagram, opening up just a bit about her performance.
Katy revealed that she and Darius met through church and that’s how the team up came to happen.
“Went back to church, met a new friend @dariusrucker and found #OnlyLove ♥️,” she shared.

Reba McEntire has arrived on the red carpet!
The 65-year-old country star arrived with boyfriend Rex Linn on her arm at the 2020 CMA Awards on Wednesday (November 11) at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Reba looked super chic in a sparkling blazer with long train while rocking black trousers. Rex looked handsome in a blue blazer as he joined his girlfriend at the event.
Also joining Reba on the red carpet was Darius Rucker, who will be co-hosting the awards show with her.

Darius Rucker is opening up about his path to country music stardom and reveals it hasn’t been an easy one.
The 54-year-old “Wagon Wheel” singer, and former Hootie & The Blowfish frontman, spoke to People about how his journey to get airplay on country stations was met with racism.
“I’m still trying to get on the radio, you know?” he shared. “It’s that point where I don’t even see it like [I'm a 'big deal']. I’m begging. I’m still putting out this song, which is a smash hit, and watching it slosh its way up the charts like everybody else. You’re praying that it does something, and it’s still the same thing. So, I still don’t feel like I’ve made it …”
Darius added that “a lot of the bigger stars don’t have to call every radio station.”
“I still got to be on every radio station. I still got to do all the work, and do all the stuff that you have to do to get your song to move the charts. So I just feel like every time I put out a single, I feel like I’m starting over.”
Darius recounted some of the things he’s been told while making country music and how stations were hesitant to put him on air.
“I’d just come from the Hootie thing, and so, when I came here and said I would do a radio tour, they were all excited,” he says. “I was doing what my label wanted me to do. I guess I hadn’t had any hits. So I wasn’t really thinking about the Black country singer thing … I wanted people to play my music for my music. If you like the song, please play it. If not, don’t. Don’t play it because I’m Black, and please don’t not play it because I’m Black.”
“The first time I walked into [a country radio station] — nobody said they wouldn’t play it,” Darius added. “What was said was, ‘I don’t think my audience will accept a Black country singer.’ Just like that. ‘I love the song. I think it’s country. Love it. I’m going to play it tomorrow, but I don’t think my audience will accept a Black country singer.’ I go, ‘Wow. Really? I thought music was notes and words and chords. I didn’t know music was color. I found that out today.’”
Darius is set to host the upcoming 2020 CMA Awards with Reba McEntire.
The Country Music Association has revealed just who will be hosting the upcoming 2020 CMA Awards – and it’s Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker!
The two will be socially distanced at the event, which will be held at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tenn., on November 11.
“I’m thrilled to be back hosting the CMA Awards and even more thrilled that I get to share the stage with Darius Rucker,” Reba shared in a statement. “We’re looking forward to a night of celebrating great Country Music and hope you’ll tune in and watch!”
Darius added, “I look forward to the CMA Awards every year because of the incredible performances and the opportunity to celebrate the year in Country Music. To be invited to host this year’s awards alongside Reba — are you kidding me?! — is an absolute honor.”

Darius Rucker and wife Beth are splitting up.
The 54-year-old Hootie & the Blowfish frontman announced on Saturday (July 11) that he and his wife have decided to “consciously uncouple” after 20 years of marriage.
“Beth and I would like to share that after much reflection we have made the decision to consciously uncouple,” Darius wrote on Instagram. “We remain close friends and parenting partners and continue to be each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Our priority will always be our beautiful family. We have so much love in our hearts for each other and will continue to encourage growth and expansion in one other. Please be kind as we take on this journey, and we thank you for your love and support always. — Darius & Beth Rucker”
Darius and Beth married in 2000 after meeting in 1998.
They share two kids – daughter Daniella, 19, and son Jack, 15. Darius is also dad to daughter Caroline, 25, from a previous relationship.
