That same day, the producer and the 44-year-old actress attended their New York Tastemakers screening of Roma at Crosby Street Hotel and got support from director Darren Aronofsky, Mike Myers and his wife Kelly Tisdale, and Oscar winner Benj Pasek.

The film was directed by Alfonso Cuaron and it’s getting a ton of awards buzz. While it won’t be released on Netflix until December 14, the film was released in limited theaters this past weekend.

The movie played in only three theaters in New York and Los Angeles and while Netflix isn’t reporting grosses for the screenings, sources tell THR that nearly all showings were sold out. The film grossed around $90,000 to $120,000 over opening weekend.

Matthew McConaughey joins co-star Richie Merritt on the red carpet at the premiere of their new movie White Boy Rick on Wednesday night (September 12) at the Paris Theater in New York City.

The guys were also joined at the premiere by co-stars Bel Powley, Jonathan Majors, director Yann Demange, and producer Darren Aronofsky. Also stepping out for the premiere was Matt‘s wife Camila Alves.

White Boy Rick follows a teenager who became an undercover informant for the FBI in the 1980s and was ultimately arrested for drug-trafficking and sentenced to life in prison.

The film hits theaters on September 14th.

Jennifer Lawrence happily strikes a pose while attending the BAM Gala 2018 held at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on Wednesday (May 30) in New York City.

The 27-year-old actress skipped the red carpet and used a private entrance to get inside the event to reunite with her 49-year-old director ex-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky backstage before hitting the stage to honor him with an award.

“I am thrilled to be here tonight to present this honor to my very good friend, Darren Aronofsky,” Jennifer expressed before continuing to speak about Darren‘s “love of science and technology” and their shared concern about climate change.

Jennifer and Darren, who worked together on the film mother!, called it quits back in November of last year.

Also in attendance at the event was Liev Schreiber, Joan Juliet Buck and honorees Jeremy Irons and Nora Ann Wallace.

The 40-year-old actor hosted a startup competition called Perfect Pitch for early-stage entrepreneurs as part of the 2018 SXSW Festival.

“We are based in L.A., we see a ton of companies out of San Francisco and New York. What we wanted to do was recognize and realize that companies come from everywhere…they come from the Midwest, the south, come from all across the world,” Ashton expressed about the competition (via CNBC). “We’ve been coming to SXSW for years, but [now are] actually doing something that is meaningful for companies, that actually shows and inspires the entrepreneurial spirit across the country in every market.”

Also in attendance at the celebration were musical guests Snoop Dogg and St. Vincent, as well as Elon Musk and Spike Lee. Casamigos specialty cocktails were served at the event.

The movie mother! was one of the most polarizing films in recent memory and the director Darren Aronofsky is opening up to reveal the meaning of the movie.

“I wanted to make a film about Mother Earth and how we treat Mother Earth,” Darren said during a conference at SXSW. “The way I see we treat Mother Earth is incredibly disrespectful. We pillage her, we rape her, we call her dirt.”

Jennifer Lawrence played a pregnant woman who was put through a series of traumatizing events while living in a secluded farmhouse with her husband, a poet played by Javier Bardem.

“That’s why Jennifer played the character the way she did,” he added. “There’s a lot of emotion.”

Darren also confirmed that Javier‘s character represented God.

“I looked at the Bible and how the Old Testament God is painted,” he said (via Variety). “When you think about that God, if you don’t pray to him, he kills you. What type of character does that? For me, it was about interpreting that to human emotion.”

Jennifer Lawrence is getting candid about her split with Darren Aronofsky.

The 27-year-old actress was spotted ahead of an appearance on The Late Show on Monday (February 26) in New York City.

During a recent interview, Jennifer spilled about her relationship with Darren.

“He flew in, pitched me [on Mother], left. The whole thing was probably an hour and a half, and then I was like, he’s hot,” Jennifer said on Marc Maron‘s podcast.

She continued, “I remember I was holding my dog and I shut the door and when the door shut I went, ‘Pippy that’s called sexual tension.’ He played hard to get for like nine months, maybe longer, which just killed me.”

As for how long they dated, Jennifer said, “I mean, if we count everything, like two years. I had been saying two years for so long and he was like, ‘It’s been like, six months!’ I think two years. I mean, I was in love with him for like, two years.”

Jennifer later added, “I still love him very much.”
