3 Actresses Auditioned to Play Wonder Woman Before Gal Gadot was Cast (1 Said She 'Never' Had a Chance)

Gal Gadot‘s portrayal of Wonder Woman made her the leading lady of the DCEU, but she faced some stiff competition to book the part.

The actress joined the DC Comics franchise alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill and was lauded as one of the brightest lights for her portrayal of Diana Prince in 2016′s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Since then, Gal has reprised the role in several projects, including two solo movies. There have been ongoing questions about her future in the franchise.

She’s synonymous with the character, but Gal had to audition for it alongside several other stars.

In fact, we can say for a fact that she faced off against at least three actresses to land the part. Of them, two opened up about their experience auditioning. One of them even explained why they knew that they “never” had a chance to land it.

With there being so much interest in Gal‘s future in the franchise, we decided to do some research into who else might have been wielding the Lasso of Truth.

James Gunn Confirms Another Star Returning to the DCU!

James Gunn is addressing the DC Universe.

The 57-year-old co-CEO of DC Studios spoke out on social media about a DCEU actor who will be returning, after confirming three other actors who will be back.

After previously confirming Xolo Maridueña will continue playing Blue Beetle, Viola Davis will return as Amanda Waller, and John Cena will stay on board as Peacemaker, he then spoke out about another star.

Three Actors Will Continue DC Roles in James Gunn's Universe, He Confirms

James Gunn is making big changes to the DC Comics universe, but he has confirmed that three actors will continue in their roles.

For years, fans had wanted Henry Cavill to reprise his role as Superman and it looked like that was finally going to happen following his cameo appearance in the Black Adam end credits scene. Then things changed soon after when Gunn took over control of the film division.

Not only is Henry not returning as Superman, there will no longer be a Black Adam sequel with Dwayne Johnson. It also was reported that Gal Gadot is no longer playing Wonder Woman.

The first full length trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is finally here!

This trailer is action packed and promising a huge return for the King of Atlantis. For those who are counting: fans have only noticed Amber Heard in one frame of the trailer, at around 2:23.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. 'Aquaman 2' Director Speaks Out About Amber Heard's Scenes Amid Claims They Were 'Pared Down'

James Wan, director of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, is speaking out.

The 46-year-old filmmaker spoke to Entertainment Weekly about many of the rumors circulating the DC sequel, including ones involving the 37-year-old actress.

Rumors swirled that the film required three rounds of reshoots amid the executive overhaul at DC Studios, as it was taken over by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

'Aquaman 2' Gets Teaser Footage Ahead of Trailer Drop, Amber Heard Confirmed for Cast By Warner Bros.

A trailer tease has been released for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom ahead of the full trailer arriving on Thursday and Warner Bros. also confirmed that Amber Heard is in the cast.

There had been questions surrounding Amber‘s role in the film amid her court cases with ex-husband Johnny Depp, but the studio has finally revealed she’s definitely included in the movie.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, now balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
