Dev Patel is stepping out to promote his directorial debut!
The 33-year-old actor and director attended a screening of his new movie Monkey Man on Monday (March 25) held at Picturehouse Central in London, England.
Dev Patel just debuted his new movie Monkey Man at the SXSW Festival!
The Oscar-nominated actor makes his directorial debut with the new movie, which he also stars in and wrote.
Dev was joined by producer Jordan Peele at the premiere on Monday (March 11) in Austin, Tex.
Also in attendance were co-stars Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, and Sobhita Dhulipala.
Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

Dev Patel is making his directorial debut with the upcoming thriller Monkey Man and Jordan Peele has signed on as producer.
The movie was originally set to be released by Netflix, but now Universal Pictures has acquired the movie and will release it theatrically instead.

Not only does Dev star in the movie, he directed the film from a script he co-wrote.
“Insiders say Peele had a chance to see the movie, and was so taken with Patel’s vision that he believed it deserved a theatrical release. Universal will market and distribute Monkey Man through its feature film deal with Peele’s Monkeypaw banner. The film has been described as akin to John Wick in Mumbai,” The Hollywood Reporter says.

Page Six reports that the 32-year-old Green Knight star attempted to intervene in an argument that culminated in a stabbing on Monday night (August 1).
According to the outlet, a man and a woman were fighting in the street before they moved their exchange to a nearby gas station, where multiple people tried to deescalate the situation – including Dev.
Dev Patel doesn’t seem to be a big fan of his movie The Last Airbender, which was his second movie ever and still the only blockbuster film he’s ever done.
The 31-year-old Oscar-nominated actor opened up in a new interview and explained why he avoids doing tentpole movies.
