Ethan Slater and Gavin Lee perform songs from SpongeBob SquarePants The Musical live at the 2018 Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (June 10) in New York City.

The actors, who were both nominated for their work in the show, hit the stage to represent the musical during the broadcast.

SpongeBob SquarePants was nominated for 12 awards and went home with one win – Best Scenic Design in a Musical.

Lauren Ambrose, Hailey Kilgore, and Katrina Lenk team up for the Tony Honors Cocktail Party!

The stars of My Fair Lady, Once on This Island, and The Band’s Visit, respectively, attended the event – Presenting The 2018 Tony Honors For Excellence In The Theatre And Honoring The 2018 Special Award Recipients – held at Sofitel Hotel on Monday (June 4) in New York City.

They were joined by My Fair Lady‘s Harry Hadden-Paton, Once on This Island director Michael Arden, and The Band’s Visit‘s Ari’el Stachel.

Also in attendance were Carousel‘s Joshua Henry, Lindsay Mendez, and Renee Fleming, Summer‘s Ariana DeBose, and SpongeBob SquarePants‘ Ethan Slater and Gavin Lee.

Tina Fey and Andrew Garfield show off their trophies in the press room at the 2018 Drama Desk Awards held at Town Hall on Sunday night (June 3) in New York City.

Tina won the award for Outstanding Book of a Musical for writing the script to Mean Girls. She was joined at the event by the show’s nominated cast members Kate Rockwell, Ashley Park, and Grey Henson, as well as Barrett Wilbert Weed.

Andrew won the award for Outstanding Actor in a Play for Angels in America. He was joined by cast members Nathan Lane, who won Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play, as well as Denise Gough and James McArdle.

SpongeBob SquarePants stars Ethan Slater and Gavin Lee both won awards, as did Carousel‘s Jessie Mueller and Lindsay Mendez.

Other stars in attendance included Outstanding Solo Performance winner Billy Crudup, Three Tall Women‘s Glenda Jackson and Laurie Metcalf, Lobby Hero nominee Brian Tyree Henry, and Carousel nominee Joshua Henry.

Gavin Lee is a Tony-nominated actor who is currently starring in Broadway’s SpongeBob SquarePants and we caught up with the star to learn more about him!

Gavin is playing the role of Squidward Q. Tentacles in the musical and he is up for a Tony in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical category. You might have also seen him play Bert in the original cast of Mary Poppins on Broadway!

Here are 10 Fun Facts about him:

• 1. I’m a Londoner but I got married in the US in 2005, moved to the US in 2006 and finally became a citizen in 2017! (Oh say, can you seeeee…!)
• 2. Mustard and pickles gross me out big-time. But I love a pickled onion- go figure.
• 3. Watching any sort of repetitive motion, like someone knitting, makes me wanna jump outta my skin.
• 4. My first West End show was Bugsy Malone when I was 11.
• 5. I’ve owned a motorcycle or moped for most of my life.
