Hugh Hefner‘s death certificate has been revealed and the Playboy icon passed away from cardiac arrest and respiratory failure, The Blast reports.

In addition, the 91-year-old mogul also had recent bouts of E Coli and Septicemia, which apparently contributed to his passing. Septicemia is an infection of the blood.

The publication also concludes that the E Coli strain he suffered from was resistant to antibiotics.

Hugh passed away last week peacefully at the age of 91 at The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jared Leto has landed a new role: playing the late Hugh Hefner in an upcoming biopic.

The 91-year-old Playboy icon passed away just last week at the age of 91, and Brett Ratner has a biopic planned.

Jared is an old friend,” Brett, who will direct the film, told THR. “When he heard I got the rights to Hef‘s story, he told me, ‘I want to play him. I want to understand him.’ And I really believe Jared can do it. He’s one of the great actors of today.”

Brett wanted to introduce Jared to Hugh before his death but was unable to due to Hugh’s declining health. “There’s enough footage on Hef out there that Jared will be able to get as much information as he wants,” Brett said.

The late Hugh Hefner‘s wife Crystal Harris is breaking her silence on the death of her husband, the founder of Playboy.

The 31-year-old model was Hefner‘s third wife and she made her Playboy debut in December 2009 as a playmate. Hugh announced that they were engaged a year later.

“I haven’t been able to bring myself to write most people back to thank them for their condolences. I am heartbroken. I am still in disbelief,” Crystal told People in a statement. “We laid him to rest Saturday. He is in the place he was always certain he wanted to spend eternity.”

“He was an American hero. A pioneer. A kind and humble soul who opened up his life and home to the world,” she added. “I felt how much he loved me. I loved him so much. I am so grateful. He gave me life. He gave me direction. He taught me kindness. I will feel eternally grateful to have been by his side, holding his hand, and telling him how much I love him. He changed my life, he saved my life. He made me feel loved every single day. He was a beacon to the world, a force unlike anything else. There never has and never will be another Hugh M. Hefner.”

“I join the world in mourning. I thank you for all of your condolences,” she concluded in her statement. “To the people leaving sentiments at the front gate, we see you and grieve with you.”

It was revealed over the weekend how much Crystal will receive from Hugh‘s fortune.

Hugh Hefner's Wife Crystal Harris Will Be Left with Millions & a Mansion

Following the death of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, there have been reports that his widow Crystal Harris would not receive any money from his fortune, but that’s not actually true.

As part of the couple’s pre-nup when they tied the knot in 2012, Crystal is reportedly getting $5 million plus a 5,900 square foot Hollywood Hills mansion, according to TMZ.

The home was bought by Hugh back in 2013 and it was held in a trust for Crystal until his death.

Hugh Hefner to Be Buried Next to Marilyn Monroe

Hugh Hefner‘s final resting place will be right next to the first-ever cover model of Playboy, the one and only Marilyn Monroe.

The Playboy founder, who died on Wednesday (September 27) at the age of 91, will be laid to rest at Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

Hefner purchased the plot 25 years ago for $75,000, according to People. Some of the other Hollywood legends who are buried there include Farrah Fawcett, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Natalie Wood, Truman Capote, Dean Martin, and Rodney Dangerfield.

Jenny McCarthy Tearfully Mourns Hugh Hefner's Death

Jenny McCarthy got emotional while opening up about the death of Hugh Hefner, someone who she credits with helping start her career.

“It’s a sad morning for me,” the 44-year-old television personality said on her SiriusXM radio show on Thursday morning (September 28).

Jenny says that modeling for Playboy helped give her the experience she needed to move further in the industry.

“It gave me on-camera experience, so by the time I auditioned for MTV, I was able to get that job,” she said. “And through the numerous covers I did after that or the specials that I would host with Hef, I’ll never forget.”

Jenny got teary-eyed while discussing Hugh‘s death.

“He would always say, ‘Thanks for sharing the dream, Jen.’ Which he liked to say a lot. And when I thought about him passing last night…” Jenny said. “I just thought I wanted one more, one more chance just to say thanks and thank you for sharing your dream with me, and for giving so many girls, and so many people, the opportunity of a lifetime.”

“He was the most goodhearted, caring, generous, supportive friend, mentor…and his zest for life was contagious,” she added.

The 50-year-old actress and model posted a video of her overcome with emotion. If you didn’t know, Pamela covered Playboy 14 times over the course of her career.

In addition to her video goodbye, Pamela also posted a poem for Hugh.
