Get to Know '13 Reason Why' Actress Inde Navarrette with These 10 Fun Facts! (Exclusive)

The name Inde Navarrette is one you’re going to want to get to know!

We got the chance to catch up with Inde, who stars as Estela de la Cruz in Netflix’s hit show 13 Reasons Why.

Last month, Inde‘s name was in the headlines after she booked a role on The CW’s upcoming Arrowverse series, Superman & Lois! Inde will play the series-regular role of Sarah Cushing in the show.

Get to know Inde with these 10 fun facts

  • 1. My name derives from the word ‘Independent’. When I was little, my mom and I were outside blowing bubbles and I took the bubble blowing stick out of her hands because I wanted to do it for myself. That’s where the name began and ever since then I’ve tried to do right by it.
  • 2. I love doing anything that involves an adrenaline rush: skydiving, bungee jumping, and recently I tried snowboarding and fell in love. It’s a good reminder that I’m alive and that I can overcome anything I put my mind too.
  • 3. I have been to more schools than there are grades. My father was a marine and my parents were divorced so I bounced around between schools a lot. Moving around so much was great because I got to branch out and meet new people from all walks of life. It gave me a bigger scope of the world than most.
  • 4. Creatively expressing my feelings is my outlet. I have been drawing since I was young and for the past 3 years, I’ve been acrylic painting on a canvas the size of a door. Granted I am 4’ 11”, so you can imagine the struggle there. This painting is especially important to me because I add onto it every time I have a transformative life-experience so I don’t think I’ll be done with the piece anytime soon. I recommend trying artistic outlets for expressing your feelings. It’s a great way to visually see what’s going on in your mind.
  • 5. Chicano Studies is something I would love to teach at a college or high school someday. I noticed in school that they don’t teach much about Latino culture, specifically Mexican-American. As a high-school student, I began to notice and decided to teach myself with the hopes of one day being able to educate others on the importance of knowing where you come from. Representation makes people feel seen and important.
