'Wicked' Star Jackie Burns Shares Her Top Five Dream Roles! (Exclusive)

Jackie Burns has played the role of Elphaba in Wicked more times on Broadway than any other actress in the history of the show and now she’s treating Los Angeles audiences to her stunning performance!

The Broadway star is currently performing the role of Elphaba opposite Kara Lindsay as Glinda in the touring production of Wicked at the Pantages Theatre. She has also been seen on Broadway in the musicals If/Then and Hair.

We caught up with Jackie to find out the dream roles she’d love to play in the future.

  • 1. Fanny Brice in Funny Girl because… come on, it’s Fanny Brice in Funny Girl!
  • 2. The Emcee in Cabaret. I love this role, it’s so mysterious, sexy, dark, and naughty. I think it would be a lot of fun seeing it played through the eyes of a woman.
  • 3. Amneris in Aida. Aida is one of the only musicals I’ve seen several times. It was right when I moved to New York City and I was floored by the music, story, sets, costumes, etc. Amneris gets so many beautiful moments – from funny to touching – as well as kick ass songs and gorgeous costumes. And there’s a catwalk sequence! What more do you need?!
  • 4. Aldonza in Man of La Mancha. I find her to be one of the most challenging roles in musical theater. I love everything about her: her sheer power and her heartbreaking vulnerability.
  • 5. And last but certainly not least, a role that hasn’t been written yet specifically for ME!

Wicked is playing at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles through January 27!
