The beloved movie musical Mamma Mia! was released in theaters 15 years ago and the cast and crew recently took a look back at the making of the hit film for a Vogue oral history feature.

Casting directors Priscilla John and Ellen Lewis chatted about all of the actors that they saw for the roles of Sky and Sophie.

We already learned about the 17 actresses who auditioned for the role of Sophie, which went to Amanda Seyfried. Now it’s time to learn about the six actors considered for Dominic Cooper‘s role of Sky.

“We really fought for Dominic, because the studio said they thought he wasn’t fun enough. They saw him as a bad boy and seemed to want someone a bit more saccharine,” Priscilla said.

Dominic added, “I remember thinking not to even bother auditioning, as I thought I was never going to get it. I don’t consider myself a musical theater person at all, so I was a bit skeptical. But I remember being persuaded by the lovely Priscilla to suck it up.”

James McAvoy and his wife Lisa Liberati pose for photos at the 2023 Met Gala on Monday evening (May 1) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The 44-year-old actor carried a fan with him on the red carpet, which was, of course, an homage to the theme’s central focus: the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. He used to often be seen carrying a fan.

“He used to carry around an old-fashioned black fan and when you were being difficult he’d hit you with it,” fashion designer Julien Macdonald once said of Lagerfeld‘s signature accessory. “He’d taunt you then hit you with it – it was all done in a joking way and never done very hard, but I do remember it quite clearly. It was his alternative to a stick I suppose.

The theme of the Met Gala this year is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” and the event will honor the late fashion designer. The dress code for the gala is “in honor of Karl,” who has worked at such fashion houses as Balmain, Chloé, Fendi, and Chanel. The official co-chairs for the 2023 event are Michaela Coel, Penelope Cruz, Roger Federer, and Dua Lipa.

James McAvoy and his wife Lisa Liberati joined Gigi Hadid for a fun night out in the Big Apple to celebrate her Netflix series!

The married couple were among the stars in attendance at the Next in Fashion tastemaker event on Monday night (February 27) at Zero Bond in New York City.

Gigi and her co-star Tan France co-hosted the event.

James and Lisa were seen mingling with Tan‘s husband Rob France and Kardashian bestie Simon Huck.

For those who don’t know, James and Lisa met back in 2016 while working together on the movie Split. Lisa was director M. Night Shyamalan‘s assistant at the time. They began dating a couple years later and they confirmed their marriage in early 2022.
