“Regarding, you know, how I left the show, I just want to say I never, ever, ever, ever intended to make anyone feel uncomfortable — ever. It’s just not who I am…we loved each other. We were irreverent. We were honest. We were vulnerable. We had stories that were very, very personal. We trusted one another. It was a set like no other,” he said.

“Of course, there were instances where my interaction with these lovely people could have been mistaken way other, way other than how I intended, and I have profoundly apologized, and I apologize now if I made anyone, anyone feel vulnerable, and I’m sorry it ended the way it did.”

“I’m so proud of playing Maura and part of the LGBT community, and getting that important message out. It’s a highlight of my life, and I just can’t let the day go, and I can’t leave this studio, without saying something,” he added.

Jeffrey was fired in February of 2018 amid being accused of sexual harassment. Co-star Trace Lysette was one of his accusers.

Jason Bateman Apologizes to Jessica Walter After Controversial 'Arrested Development' Interview

Jason Bateman is apologizing to Jessica Walter.

The Arrested Development actors participated in a New York Times interview that garnered significant backlash against Jason and his male co-stars for seemingly trying to normalize Jeffrey Tambor‘s verbally abusing Jessica on set.

“Based on listening to the NYT interview and hearing people’s thoughts online, I realize that I was wrong here. I sound like I’m condoning yelling at work. I do not. It sounds like I’m excusing Jeffery. I do not. It sounds like I’m insensitive to Jessica. I am not,” he wrote on Wednesday (May 24) on Twitter.

“In fact, I’m horrified that I wasn’t more aware of how this incident affected her. I was so eager to let Jeffrey know that he was supported in his attempt to learn, grow and apologize that I completely underestimated the feelings of the victim, another person I deeply love – and she was sitting right there! I’m incredibly embarrassed and deeply sorry to have done that to Jessica. This is a big learning moment for me. I shouldn’t have tried so hard to mansplain, or fix a fight, or make everything okay. I should’ve focused more on what the most important part of it all is – there’s never any excuse for abuse, in any form, from any gender. And, the victim’s voice needs to be heard and respected. Period. I didn’t say that and instead said a bunch of other stuff and not very well. I deeply, and sincerely, apologize,” he added.

Jessica Walter Says Jeffrey Tambor Verbally Abused Her on 'Arrested Development' Set

Jessica Walter is opening up about her experience working with Jeffrey Tambor on the set of Arrested Development and how she was verbally abused by him.

The actress plays Tambor‘s ex-wife on the series, which is returning for a fifth season on Netflix. In an interview with The New York Times, the cast was asked about the sexual harassment allegations made against Tambor on the set of Transparent.

“Let me just say one thing that I just realized in this conversation. I have to let go of being angry at him. He never crossed the line on our show, with any, you know, sexual whatever. Verbally, yes, he harassed me, but he did apologize. I have to let it go,” Jessica said through tears. She added, “In… almost 60 years of working, I’ve never had anybody yell at me like that on a set. And it’s hard to deal with, but I’m over it now.”

While Jason Bateman and Tony Hale both defended Tambor during the interview, saying his behavior was “part of his process” and “we all have our moments,” Jessica said, “Not like that. That was bad.”

Jessica also said she has no reservations about working with Tambor in the future. She says, “I’ve just given it up…I don’t want to walk around with anger. I respect him as an actor. We’ve known each other for years and years and years…Of course, I would work with him again in a heartbeat.”
