Naomi Ackie looks stunning at the premiere of her new Whitney Houston movie!

The 30-year-old actress, best known for her work in The End of the F***ing World, plays the iconic singer in the new film I Wanna Dance With Somebody. She walked the carpet at the world premiere screening on Tuesday (December 13) at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York City.

Naomi was joined by her co-stars Stanley Tucci, Nafessa Williams, Clarke Peters, Tamara Tunie, Ashton Sanders, Tanner Beard, and Kris Sidberry, as well as director Kasi Lemmons.

Stanley, who portrays music exec Clive Davis in the film, posed with the real-life figure on the carpet.

Naomi Ackie steps out for the fun pop-up experience in celebration of her new movie, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody, in New York City over the weekend.

The 30-year-old actress met up with her co-stars Tamara Tunie and Nafessa Williams, and director Kasi Lemmons held at Studio 525.

The upcoming movie will be out on December 23 and is a “no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice. From New Jersey choir girl to one of the best-selling and most awarded recording artists of all time, audiences are taken on an inspirational, poignant—and so emotional—journey through Houston’s trailblazing life and career, with show-stopping performances and a soundtrack of the icon’s most beloved hits as you’ve never heard them before.”

Cynthia Erivo wears a hooded dress while walking the red carpet at the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Thursday night (January 2) in Palm Springs, Calif.

The 32-year-old actress was joined at the event by her Harriet director Kasi Lemmons and producer Debra Martin Chase, as well as friend Lena Waithe.

Cynthia is going to receive the Breakthrough Performance Award, which Lena will present. Earlier in the day, she participated in a Q&A at a screening of Harriet.

On the red carpet at the gala, Cynthia talked about her role as singer Aretha Franklin in the upcoming series Genius.

“You got me an Aretha Franklin job,” she told Variety‘s Marc Malkin. “Basically, when you asked me on the carpet to sing one of my favorite songs, I sang ‘Ain’t No Way.’ And then, Mr. Clive Davis saw that clip and that’s how I’m playing Aretha Franklin right now. It’s your fault!”

The 32-year-old actress was joined by her co-stars Janelle Monae, Joe Alwyn, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Mitchell Hoog, and director Kasi Lemmons.

Also in attendance were Terry Crews with wife Rebecca, Kendrick Sampson, This Is Us‘ Jon Huertas, UnREAL‘s Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, comedian Loni Love, Colman Domingo, and Broadway stars Stephanie Hsu, Carly Hughes, and Jeremy Pope.

On the red carpet, Cynthia was asked by Variety about the Oscar buzz surrounding her performance.

“When you say it like that… I think I was compartmentalizing it, like little bits at a time, but when you say it all at once, it sounds really crazy and amazing. It’s just a wonderful time. It means a lot. And to be around this, doing this now with all of the things that are happening, it’s a dream come true,” she said.
