Yellowjackets is coming back, but we’re going to be waiting a while.

The Showtime series wrapped Season 2 back in 2023, and fans are already eager to know more about the third season of the show, which was greenlit by execs at the end of 2022.

Showrunner and co-creator Ashley Lyle confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the plan is for the show to run for five seasons.

The third season of Yellowjackets will not be premiering until 2025, executive producers Ashley Lyle, Jonathan Lisco and Bart Nickerson told Deadline on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards in January.

Pre-production for the series was shut down just one day after the WGA strike began last May. The writers room for the show reopened in September 2023 after the Hollywood strikes ended.

Sophie Nélisse, Jasmine Savoy Brown and Samantha Hanratty were among the young stars of Yellowjackets who stepped out for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday (January 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The ladies, who play younger versions of Shauna, Taissa and Misty, respectively, on the fan-favorite show joined several more of their younger castmates at the awards ceremony, where the series is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series!

Also in attendance were Steven Krueger, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson and Kevin Alves.

Other Yellowjackets Emmy nominations include Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Melanie Lynskey and Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.

FYI: Sophie Nélisse is wearing Givenchy. Jasmine is wearing Givenchy. Samantha is wearing a Dolce&Gabbana dress, Versace shoes, Vrai jewelry and a Tyler Ellis bag. Yellowjackets producers are once again making their Emmys submissions for Season 2!

Breakout star Sophie Nélisse, who plays the teen version of Shauna, will now be joining in a new category.

Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci were both nominated for lead Actress and Supporting Actress last year, respectively, along with the show receiving several writing, casting and directing nominations.

There are also some new cast members being submitted this year.

The trailer for season 2 of Yellowjackets has finally debuted online and it’s teasing three timelines this season!

The first story line is the continuation of the adults and the second version of the story line is the continuation of the teens abandoned at their plane crash site. However, there appears to now be a third timeline being added in the mix this season: one that takes place 19 months after the crash.
