It looks like there won’t be a happy ending to the fourth and final season of Killing Eve.
A new trailer for the AMC/BBC show debuted on Tuesday (December 28) and promised a very tense season between M16 agent Eve (Sandra Oh) and sociopathic assassin Villainelle (Jodie Comer).

The first teaser for the final season of Killing Eve just debuted online.
The hit AMC/BBC show stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer in the leading roles. This season will be the last and it’s sure to end in a big way.
The fourth and final season will debut with two episodes on February 27 on BBC America. Episodes will then air weekly on AMC beginning the very next day.
AMC has expressed interest in creating some spinoff shows to expand the universe created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Stay tuned!

Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer‘s hit BBC America/AMC series, Killing Eve, will be ending after season four.
“Killing Eve exploded in popular culture and attracted a dedicated and committed fan base from its very first episode,” AMC Networks president of originals Dan McDermott said in a statement (via THR). “Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brilliant adaptation of the source material, the unforgettable characters given life by Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, and the entire cast, along with our partners at Sid Gentle Films, have delivered a one-of-a-kind roller-coaster ride that has taken our breath away. … We look forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable final season and to exploring potential extensions of this compelling universe.”
The final season will begin filming this summer for a debut in 2022. The eight-episode season will film in the UK and around Europe.
Sandra Oh is talking Killing Eve!
The 48-year-old actress called into Variety and iHeart’s podcast The Big Ticket and discussed the hit series.

During the chat, Sandra talked about the end of Killing Eve‘s second season, in which Villanelle left Eve for dead but walked away without making sure.
“I have my own theory, which might not be in line with the writers or even Jodie [Comer], because I don’t really know what Jodie felt like. What I thought is that [Villanelle] knows. She’s too good at her job. She knows,” she revealed.
She also talked about Season 3, and Villanelle in a clown costume – and whether that was meant as a Joker homage.
“I don’t think so. I think that would definitely be a conversation to have with Suzanne Heathcote, the head writer, but I don’t think so. I think it was really to put Villanelle in an outrageous situation, and then the horror that can happen. No one likes clowns really,” she said.
As for whether Eve and Villanelle could ever actually live a happy life together?
“No, and I think that’s what makes great drama. I think that’s what makes great romance. It’s the yearning that brings people in. It’s that dramatic storytelling. It’s based on desire and yearning,” she explained.

Jodie spoke to EW about what fans could expect from the new season and what’s in store for Villanelle.
At the end of season two, Villanelle shot Eve (Sandra Oh) as she was walking away – however, Eve isn’t dead at all.
“[She's] trying to carry on with her life and trying to live a more normal life. It’s six months later. It wasn’t like in [season] 1 where we jumped into [season] 2 where we picked up from that moment. So time has passed and we see her trying to get on with things,” Jodie shared of the time jump and what’s going on with her character now.
She adds that “a big theme for Villanelle is her trying to gauge some sense of control. She is a very free spirit and she always seems to be under the thumb of this higher entity, whoever that may be. She’s really trying to shake that off — and she wants to be in charge of her own destiny in a way.”
“Her past definitely comes into play in a very, very big way,” Jodie continued. “I think it enables the audience to see her again in a different surrounding and kind of endearing and frightening. She’s faced with a lot of stuff.”
Jodie also spoke of the symbolism you’ll see of where Eve was shot and how it connects.
“It’s symbolic in a way that when Eve stabbed Villanelle in series 1, for Villanelle, Eve was a part of her in some way. She has this marking that was from her and was now a part of her,” she says. “…I think the biggest thing is that you’re faced with this constant reminder of your past and what it is that you’re dealing in the present. So I think it’s definitely symbolic.”

Jodie Comer is spilling secrets about season three of Killing Eve, which premieres tomorrow on BBC America.
In her interview with TVLine, the 27-year-old actress revealed that Villanelle is “kind of done being controlled.”
“There’s always someone who is the puppeteer and is making her do what they need to do, and you can see how that slowly, slowly chipped away at her,” Jodie adds, revealing that season three will also give fans an insight as to who Villanelle really is.
Jodie shared that “she’s having a complete identity crisis at this point and dealing with a lot of her own personal stuff…It felt right to give this character some more depth, and that’s something I was definitely craving to do.”

Killing Eve is coming even sooner than anticipated.
The Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer-led drama’s Season 3 premiere is being pushed forward by two weeks to April 12, as opposed to April 26, AMC confirmed on Friday (March 27).

“We know how adored this series is and we know how keen people are for great content right now. This season of Killing Eve digs deep psychologically, and with actors like Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw the results are nothing short of astonishing. We literally couldn’t wait for fans to see it,” said AMC’s Sarah Barnett.
If you didn’t know, the show was already renewed for Season 4.
