Larry King's Wife Shawn Plans to Contest His Will After Being Left Out

Larry King‘s wife Shawn, with whom he was in the process of getting a divorce before his death, is planning to contest his will.

The 61-year-old actress plans to contest his will after the late TV star amended it in 2019 to leave his $2 million estate solely to his five children, two of whom are deceased, ET reported Tuesday (February 16).

“The handwritten will, obtained by ET, is dated Oct. 17, 2019; King filed for divorce from Shawn two months earlier, in August 2019, after 22 years of marriage. According to ET‘s source, Shawn plans to contest the will in court,” the outlet reported.

The amended will left his fortune to children Chaia, Andy, Larry Jr., Chance and Cannon. In 2020, his 65-year-old son Andy died in July while his 51-year-old daughter, Chaia, died a month later.

Larry King Kept Ex-Wife Shawn Out of His Will

The late Larry King made sure his fortune did not go to his ex-wife, Shawn.

The talk show host, who passed away in January, made it clear in his will, filed three days before filing for divorce from his seventh wife, that his millions of dollars will be allocated only to his children.

“This is my Last Will & Testament. It should replace all previous writings In the event of my death, any day after the above date I want 100% of my funds to be divided equally among my children Andy, Chaia, Lary Jr Chance & Cannon,” the message reads, which was signed in October of 2019.

Larry King Jr. is also stepping in to overrule any possibility of Shawn trying to become an administrator of the estate.

“The Decedent was married to Shawn Southwick King (“Ms. King”) at the time of death. However, the Decedent and Ms. King were actively involved in ongoing dissolution proceedings in Los Angeles Superior Court. The Decedent and Ms. King were residing separately at the time of death,” new paperwork reveals, via The Blast.

Shawn recently revealed the sentimental item they all wore at his funeral.

“We laid him to rest this morning. And in the Jewish faith, they do it very quickly, so you almost don’t have time to, for me, to process. I’m still processing. And as are the boys, the whole family is just, you know, yeah,” she explained.

“We all, it was just family, we wore Larry‘s suspenders, every one of us. And it was a beautiful, loving…just perfect, just perfect. It was family. There was no showbiz, no, none of that,” she continued.

“Death is maybe the great equalizer, I think. You know, when you experience it with people who we really, really love, all the other noise and the nonsense that could be surrounding, it just goes away and the family goes close together. And that’s what happened. You know, it was beautiful.”

Larry died at 87 on Saturday morning (January 23), leaving behind Shawn and their sons, 21-year-old Chance and 20-year-old Cannon. He is also survived by his eldest son, 59-year-old Larry King, Jr., from his marriage to Annette Kaye. Here’s what his sons said after his passing.

“We are heartbroken over our father’s death, and together with our extended family mourn his passing. We will miss him every single day of our lives.”

“The outpouring of love and the remembrances of his remarkable career have touched us deeply and we are so thankful,” they continued. “In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask consideration of a donation to the American Heart Association or the Beverly Hills Fire Department EMS, to which a debt of gratitude is owed for the wonderful care they provided to our dad in his final years.
