Leven Rambin‘s new crime flick The Big Ugly is a combination of a film noir with a modern-day Western, which opens theatrically in select cities, drive-ins and on-demand today.

The plot follows London mob bosses who invest in a West Virginia oil deal in a bid to launder dirty money but end up clashing with local criminals after one of their girlfriend’s goes missing.

We talked with Leven about the film, her on-set partner in crime Nicholas Braun (Succession) and doing deep dives into Jake Gyllenhaal‘s body of work.

JJ: Tell us about your character and why you decided to do this film.

LR: My character, Kara, is an independent, recovering alcoholic local bartender who knows exactly who she is and what she deserves. She isn’t afraid to play with fire in order to do what’s right and get what she wants. She uses her assets and acute understanding of people to navigate through a man’s world. I love how she more easily fits in with a room full of older men than to people in her peer group…she’s seen a lot.

JJ: Who did you hang out with the most on set?

LR: I spent my days almost exclusively at Cave Run Lake in Morehead, KY where we shot the filmed. Nick Braun and I were two peas in a pod pretty instantly. We laughed an insane amount and I’ll never forget his pitch-perfect Rascal Flatts karaoke.

Leven Rambin stars in this brand new exclusive clip from WGN’s 12-episode series, Gone, and we cannot wait for this show to debut!

The 28-year-old actress stars as Kit “Kick” Lannigan, a one-time child abductee who ends up unofficially joining Special Agent Frank Novak’s task force to find another missing child.

In this exclusive clip, Leven’s character is driving with Novak (Chris Noth), and has a flashback to her captivity. Andy Mientus, Tracie Thoms, and more also star.

Leven Rambin won Best Actress at the Taormina Film Festival for her work in the thriller The Lost Child and now the film is getting a theatrical release!

The 28-year-old actress plays an army veteran, Fern, who returns home in order to look for her brother, only to discover an abandoned boy lurking in the woods behind her childhood home. After taking in the boy, she searches for clues to his identity, and discovers the local folklore about a malevolent, life-draining spirit that comes in the form of a child.

The movie was written and directed by Ramaa Mosley, who was recently named as part of NBC’s inaugural class for its new “Female Forward” directors initiative.

Also starring in the movie are Taylor John Smith and Jim Parrack. The movie hits select theaters on September 14 and will be available on VOD on September 18.

The Path actress Leven Rambin packs on the PDA with her boyfriend, actor and singer Tilky Jones, while enjoying some fun in the sun at Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun over Memorial Day Weekend!

The actress – who turned 28 years old on May 17, and Tilky, 36, enjoyed the beach, as well as the lounge around their Presidential Suite’s rooftop hot tub during their stay. They also had a chance to leave the resort and explored Mayan ruins in nearby Tulum and the Chaak Tun Cenotes in Playa del Carmen.
