Could 'Little Fires Everywhere' Get A Second Season? Here's What The Showrunner Says

The first season of Little Fires Everywhere just wrapped up and fans are anxiously awaiting on word of a season two.

Showrunner Liz Tigelaar talked about the possibilities of another round of episodes with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington with Entertainment Weekly.

“I’d be open to it in terms of this is the best job I’ve ever had,” Liz shared. “This was such an amazing treat of work experience, adapting something that I love with all my heart, with people who I love with all my heart.”

She’s not saying never, but, “in my heart, I feel like this is what it’s always been, which is a limited series. It’s a show with a beginning, middle, and an end. Everything burns down.”

Liz adds that “these eight episodes honor the book. This is a close-ended story to me and we’ve ended it where it ends.”

If you didn’t see, find out how the story wrapped up on Hulu.

The 'Little Fires Everywhere' TV Show Changed the Book's Ending - Here's How

SPOILER ALERT – This post contains spoilers for the season finale of Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, so don’t continue reading if you don’t want to know what happened.
__________

The eighth and final episode of Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington‘s series Little Fires Everywhere premiered on April 22 and we finally know how everything ended.

Some of the things we were waiting to find out included who set the fire in the Richardson home and who would win the trial for custody of Mirabelle/May Ling.

The way the TV show ended was actually different than the way the book, written by Celeste Ng, ended.

“I think there was a desire, and I don’t even really know where it emerged, to play with the ending a little bit so that there could be surprises for people who loved the book, but to do that while still honoring the reality and the truth that Celeste [Ng] was getting at in the book,” Kerry told EW. “So we kind of swung a lot of different directions and played with a lot of different ideas about what it could be, but this was the one that felt like it was both a fun twist for people who loved the book but also was still walking in the footprints of Celeste‘s vision.”

Joshua Jackson Almost Had A 'Dawson's Creek' Reunion on 'Little Fires Everywhere'!

Little Fires Everywhere showrunner Liz Tigelaar spilled a lot about the finale of the Hulu series, including that there could’ve been a Dawson’s Creek reunion.

Speaking with THR, Liz shared that there was one cameo that didn’t happen but she really wanted it to.

“I wanted to put Kerr Smith in so bad,” she says. However, the only way she could put him in was in a scene with Joshua Jackson.

She adds, “I thought it was going to be too distracting for Jack and Pacey to be reunited…I felt so bad about it, Kerr was like ‘really?’ I was like ‘I know, but it’s Josh!’”

Liz continued that if that reunion had happened, everything else that was going on would be pushed aside.

“Everyone’s going to be taken out of it. Josh has already been in his tighty-whities. So much has happened,” she explained. “It’s going to be jarring. It’s going to be like, ‘Jack’s here?’”

Dawson’s Creek was my first job. My heart couldn’t handle it, either.”

If you didn’t hear, Joshua just welcomed his first child with wife Jodie Turner-Smith.
