Turns out, we never saw that contestant at all throughout the entire season, but his identity has been revealed.
18-year-old singer Beckett Rex, who happens to be the son of actor Malcolm McDowell, made it into the Top 26, but quit the competition before the show started airing this season. The producers seemingly edited him out of the show completely.
In an Instagram Story posted to his page, Beckett addressed his exit.
The contestant who dropped out must have made his decision before the season started airing because his audition never aired on the show, clearly meaning the producers had time to edit him out. So, who was this mystery contestant? He actually has a very famous father!
Lily Collins and her new fiance, Charlie McDowell, both have pretty famous families – however, not all of them have actually met each other yet.
The 31-year-old Emily in Paris actress is the daughter of musician Phil Collins, and Charlie‘s parents are iconic British actor Malcolm McDowell and his mom is Mary Steenburgen.
Speaking in a new interview with SiriusXM’s The Michelle Collins Show this week, Lily revealed that she revealed that Phil and Malcolm had yet to met, despite both being based in the UK.
“Um, uh, no, not yet,” she admitted. “Everyone’s around the globe. So it’s, it’s a little difficult.”
Lily added that she wasn’t aware if they had met in the past at some point, either.
“Who knows, like if one day in the past they have, you know, in terms of like they’re both English and all that, but yeah, no, not yet,” she shared.
In another interview, Lily did open up about knowing Charlie was the one for her fairly early in their relationship.
“I was very surprised as to when and where it would happen, but it was one of those situations where I knew the second that I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day,” Lily shared while appearing on Live with Kelly and Ryan. “So, it was just a matter of when, really.”
Also in attendance were executive producers Will Graham, Roman Coppola, and Paul Weitz.
Soprano Ana Maria Martinez joined the cast and crew for the concert event, composed of an ensemble of LA musicians conducted by Lesley Leighton.
In Mozart in the Jungle, love, money, ambition and music intertwine in a comedic drama that looks at finding yourself and finding love while conquering New York City. A brash new maestro Rodrigo (Gael) stirs up the New York Symphony as young oboist Hailey (Lola) hopes for her big chance.
“I think we’re all people that think music should be part of our initial encounter with this world,” Gael told the crowd at the event. “It should be part of any curriculum that exists on anyone’s skin. And we should strive to achieve this. It’s very important to get bored, because that’s when kids grab an instrument. We shouldn’t be all the time entertained. There should be contemplation.”
Season three is available for streaming on December 9!
