Busy Philipps has announced that she is separated from husband Marc Silverstein after nearly 15 years of marriage.
The 42-year-old Cougar Town actress confirmed the news during the latest episode of her podcast, Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best.
Busy revealed that the split happened more than a year ago and explained why she waited so long to publicly share the news with fans.

The 41-year-old Dawson’s Creek actress opened up to Us Weekly about her relationship with husband Marc Silverstein and staying at home with the kids in LA.

“It’s hard for everybody in all ways. It’s hard for my friends who are living with roommates who they loved previously, but you’re spending 24 hours a day, seven days a week with them…I’ve been lucky enough recently to go back to work. I’m shooting a new TV series,” she revealed.
“Having that time out of the house and being out, doing the thing that I really like to do, has been important for me. I think once Marc and I sort of figured out how to each take our own time for ourselves or breaks, things got a lot easier. We just had to prioritize. You have to prioritize yourself a little bit, then you have to be open to the fact that maybe you need to be generous to your significant other and ask them if they need to prioritize themselves,” she continued.

That same day, Busy reposted that viral tweet about the high school that did a remake of 1979 hit film Alien starring Sigourney Weaver.
One tweet showed a clip from the school play, which featured the Alien stalking around the stage.
“THIS IS RAD! I LOVE creative theater teachers,” Busy wrote upon seeing the viral tweet.

Busy Philipps is keeping busy at the 2019 SXSW Festival!
The 39-year-old actress and talk show host stepped out for Create & Cultivate and Mastercard’s Intimate Dinner on Friday evening (March 8) at Cafe no se in Austin, Texas.

Busy was accompanied by her husband Marc Silverstein as well as Create & Cultivate founder Jaclyn Johnson.
Earlier in the day, Busy joined Hillary Kerr for one of the festival’s panel discussions.
In between all the events, Busy made sure to make time for one of her favorite things – queso!
“Hi. I’ve had queso twice today. I’m about to eat dinner. Fingers crossed there’s queso on the menu. I might move to Austin. Just for the queso. @createcultivate #queso,” Busy joked on her Instagram.
FYI: Busy is wearing a DÔEN dress for the panel and a Rhode dress to dinner.

Busy Philipps and her husband Marc Silverstein did a good deed over the weekend!
The couple were spotted as they assisted a woman who had been injured in a scooter accident on Sunday (January 27) in West Hollywood, Calif.

Busy and another passerby helped carry the woman to the side of the road while Marc grabbed the scooter.
Afterwards, Busy took to her Instagram story to explain the situation.
“We saw a woman who had been in a scooter accident and we went over and tried to help her. And I helped her get out the street and we helped them figure out what urgent care to go to. And it only furthers my belief that scooters are not safe,” Busy said.
We hope the injured woman makes a quick recovery!

Busy Philipps and her family’s Christmas card didn’t exactly make it to the mail.
The 39-year-old talk show host took to her Instagram to share what was supposed to be mailed out to 250 friends and family members!

On the card, Busy can be seen enjoying Disney World with her husband Marc Silverstein and their two daughters – 10-year-old Birdie and five-year-old Cricket.
“I ordered 250. I sent exactly zero. Merry Christmas from my family to yours ❤️,” Busy captioned the photo.

Busy Philipps and Marc Silverstein were this close to splitting up less than two years ago!
In her new memoir This Will Only Hurt a Little, the 39-year-old actress revealed that she asked her 47-year-old producer-husband for a divorce back in December 2016.

“A month [after the 2016 presidential election], I told Marc I wanted a divorce. I was done. I couldn’t do it anymore,” Busy writes before adding that things between the couple “hadn’t been great” for “a while.”
“He didn’t let me talk when we were out with friends. Or worse, when it was just us, he didn’t speak to me at all,” Busy continues. “I’d start to do a test when we were alone in the car together, where I wouldn’t say anything until he did, just to see how long it would take him to talk to me. Some days we rode the whole way in silence.”
Busy goes on to reveal that she even started getting feelings for another man – and told Marc that she was “leaving him.”
“But he didn’t want to get divorced. He wanted a chance to change,” Busy writes while sharing that they both started going to therapy – together and separate. “He said I owed our family that.”
Busy and Marc married back in 2007 and are parents to daughters Birdie, 10, and Cricket, 5.
