It’s been a draining past few weeks for Maria Menounos.
The 42-year-old entertainment reporter revealed during a recent episode of her podcast Conversations with Maria Menounos that both her mom Litsa and dad Costas have been hospitalized with coronavirus.
Even before her parents tested positive, Maria‘s mom received some rough news about her mom’s brain tumor.
âMonday before Thanksgiving, my mom had her regular appointments at Cedars for her brain cancer. So she had her MRI, she had her infusions,â Maria explained. âBut we got some not-so-great news on Monday, I think thatâs November 23, that my momâs brain tumor was growing.”
Maria first revealed that her mom had a brain tumor back in 2016. A year later, Maria was also diagnosed with a brain tumor.
On November 24, Maria‘s mom’s caretaker had called in sick, so Maria and husband Kevin Undergaro flew to Los Angeles to help care for her mom.
âWe land, and thatâs when this all started,” Maria recalled. “Iâm just going to share that weâre still in process right now, and we still need as many prayers as you can spare and as you can share. But a long story short of it all is within a few hours both of my parents were diagnosed with COVID.”
âFirst it was my mom, they had rushed her to the hospital when I landed and I found out and then a few hours later my dad tested positive,â she continued. âIt was absolutely surreal.â
Maria went on to share that her parents are currently at separate hospitals in L.A.
âIt has been an incredible challenge,â Maria said while getting choked up. âYou work so hard to keep your parents healthy and alive, I mean at least I have. To see something like this happen.”
Maria also added how grateful she is for all the doctors and nurses that are taking care of her parents.
“Luckily, we’ve had incredible doctors, incredible nurses, incredible friends, and incredible family, that have lifted up and helped us in this time,â Maria said.
