Danny DeVito Teases New 'Matilda' Project With Mara Wilson, Which was Delayed By the Strike

Danny DeVito and Mara Wilson have a special plan to revisit their beloved movie Matilda… as soon as the SAG-AFTRA strike is over!

The 78-year-old actor and director worked both in front of and behind the camera on the 1996 classic. Mara, 36, played the titular character.

In a recent interview, Danny revealed that the duo came up with a special way to revisit the movie in 2023. However, it was delayed by the onset of the actors strike in Hollywood.

Andrea Riseborough debuted a new look at the premiere of her movie Matilda The Musical!

The 41-year-old actress showed off her newly shaved head while walking the carpet on Monday night (November 21) in London, England.

Andrea was joined at the event by co-stars Emma Thompson, Alisha Weir, and Sindhu Vee. At one point, she put the cast under her cape to keep them warm in the chilly weather. The last time we saw her, she had very long hair!

Emma decided to dress down for the event, walking the carpet in a jean jacket and sneakers.

The movie is a brand new take on the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical. Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical tells the story of an extraordinary girl, with a vivid imagination, who dares to take a stand to change her story with miraculous results. Emma Thompson Is Unrecognizable as Miss Trunchbull in 'Matilda the Musical' Trailer - Watch Now!

The first ever trailer for Roald Dahl‘s Matilda the Musical has just arrived!

The adaptation stars Academy Award winner Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull, Alisha Weir as Matilda, Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey, Stephen Graham as Mr Wormwood, Andrea Riseborough as Mrs. Wormwood, and Sindhu Vee as Mrs. Phelps.

The movie is a brand new take on the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical. Author Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical tells the story of an extraordinary girl, with a vivid imagination, who dares to take a stand to change her story with miraculous results.

Look out for the film in select theaters on December 9 and on Netflix on December 25. If you didn’t see, before Emma landed the role of Miss Trunchbull, a male actor was reportedly eyed for the part!

Emma Thompson & Newcomer Alisha Weir to Star in Netflix's 'Matilda' Musical Movie

The upcoming Matilda musical movie has found its two leading ladies!

Netflix has announced that Emma Thompson will be taking on the role of Miss Trunchbull while newcomer Alisha Weir will play Matilda in the upcoming movie adaption of the famed Broadway musical, EW reports.

Early last year it was reported that one of Emma‘s Harry Potter male co-stars would be playing Miss Trunchbull, but appears if those plans did not pan out.

Matilda The Musical will be directed by Matthew Warchus, who helmed the Broadway and the UK’s West End shows. The original story was told in Roald Dahl‘s 1988 book.

Matilda will be an imaginative and fresh retelling of the award-winning musical, Matilda, featuring talented young newcomers, alongside established stars,” Matthew said in a statement. “I look forward to introducing this beloved and powerful story to a new generation of fans around the world.”

Just last week, it was announced that this actress will be playing Miss Honey in the upcoming movie.

Lashana Lynch in Final Negotiations to Play This Character in 'Matilda' Musical Movie

It looks the Matilda movie musical has found its Miss Honey!

Lashana Lynch is in final negotiations to join the cast of the upcoming movie adaption of the musical heading to Netflix, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The 33-year-old British actress is best known for playing Maria Rambeau opposite Brie Larson in Captain America and will be appearing as the new 007 in the upcoming James Bond movie No Time to Die.

Embeth Davidtz played the kind-hearted teacher that befriends Matilda in the 1996 film adaption of the Roald Dahl book.

Back in May, it was reported that Killing Eve star Jodie Comer was in talks to play Miss Honey in the Matilda musical movie, but it appears that plans fell through.

Early last year it was reported that Ralph Fiennes signed on to play the role of school headmistress Miss Trunchbull, a role in which men in drag have played the part in the stage musical.
