Viggo Mortensen Defends Playing a Gay Man in 'Falling': 'You're Assuming I'm Completely Straight'

“Look, these are the times we’re living in, and I think it’s healthy that those issues are brought up. The short answer is that I didn’t think it was a problem. And people then ask me, ‘Well what about Terry Chen, who plays my husband in the film, is he a homosexual?’” he said.

“And the answer is I don’t know, and I would never have the temerity to ask someone if they were, during the casting process. And how do you know what my life is? You’re assuming that I’m completely straight. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. And it’s frankly none of your business,” he continued.

“I want my movie to work, and I want the character of John to be effective. So if I didn’t think it was a good idea, I wouldn’t do it.”

Here is the synopsis: Dee Dee Allen (Streep) and Barry Glickman (Corden) are New York City stage stars with a crisis on their hands: their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop that has suddenly flatlined their careers. Meanwhile, in small-town Indiana, high school student Emma Nolan (Pellman) is experiencing a very different kind of heartbreak: despite the support of the high school principal (Key), the head of the PTA (Washington) has banned her from attending the prom with her girlfriend, Alyssa (DeBose).

When Dee Dee and Barry decide that Emma’s predicament is the perfect cause to help resurrect their public images, they hit the road with Angie (Kidman) and Trent (Rannells), another pair of cynical actors looking for a professional lift. But when their self-absorbed celebrity activism unexpectedly backfires, the foursome find their own lives upended as they rally to give Emma a night where she can truly celebrate who she is.

'Black Panther' Honors Chadwick Boseman With Montage Tribute - Watch (Video)

Black Panther is paying tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.

The Marvel film now features a new opening montage highlighting his appearance in the movie in a move announced on his birthday on Sunday (November 29).

Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger confirmed the news on social media, and the first viewing of the change will be available later in the evening during a Disney+ showing of the film.

He described it as “a special tribute to someone that was and always will be near and dear to our hearts.”

The move comes after a similar effort to honor the late Stan Lee with a montage inserted into the Captain Marvel film.

Don’t expect to see Chadwick Boseman making a virtual appearance in the Black Panther sequel, however. Here’s what a producer said about what to expect in the film.

'Croods 2' Leads the Thanksgiving Box Office - Ticket Sales Revealed!

The Croods: A New Age is on top at movie theaters.

The family movie surpassed expectations amid the pandemic at the box office and brought in $14.2 million, including $9.7 million for the weekend, across the five-day holiday bracket as of Sunday (November 29), according to THR.

The movie also brought in $20.8 million in seven international markets, leading with $19.2 million in China, resulting in a global debut of $35 million overall.

This is the lowest Thanksgiving box office in decades, however, it still signaled a success: Croods 2 is the first major studio movie to attempt a big screen debut since Tenet, and narrowly came ahead, making it the top debut since the pandemic started.

The movie played to 2,211 theaters amid hundreds of theater reclosures due to the surge of COVID-19.

“This shows that even with a difficult theatrical landscape, people want to come out and get together. The film is incredibly charming,” says Universal’s Jim Orr.

Croods 2 will be available on PVOD in roughly three weeks, in time for Christmas.

In comparison, Frozen 2 brought in over $100 million across the four-day weekend.

Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds all lend their voices to the film. In the movie, the prehistoric family the Croods are challenged by a rival family the Bettermans, who claim to be better and more evolved.

Filming on Don’t Worry Darling was halted after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus at the beginning of the month.

The stars were all quarantined after being exposed and the set was shut down and remained so for 14 days.

Not much is known about the plot of the film, though THR reports that “the setting is an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert and centers on a housewife who uncovers a disturbing truth about her seemingly perfect life.”

'Couples Retreat' Actor Faizon Love Sues Universal for Being Cut Off the Poster

Faizon Love, the actor who played Shane in the 2009 movie Couples Retreat, is suing Universal for race discrimination after he was cut off the international version of the movie poster.

The American version of the movie poster featured the four couples in the movie – Vince Vaughn and Malin Akerman, Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell, Jon Favreau and Kristin Davis, and finally Faizon and Kali Hawk.

The international version cut Faizon and Kali, the only non-white couple, out of the picture and they didn’t receive billing above the title.

“This film was a big money-maker for Universal, but instead of honoring my work and my contract, the studio chose to render me invisible to billions of moviegoers around the world,” Faizon said in a statement with his lawsuit (via Variety).

Variety reports that Universal regretted the decision when the movie came out and they vowed to discontinue the poster, but when Faizon recently discovered that the poster was still being circulated, he decided to file the lawsuit.

The lawsuit claims that Vince Vaughn was used to try and make Faizon feel better about the situation. The suit claims that the actor “went so far as to tell Mr. Love that making a big deal about his removal from the poster would not be good for his career at that time.”

Faizon says that the then-chairman of Universal Pictures called to apologize and they discussed future projects, but nothing ever happened to push his career forward.

“They have not only hurt me financially, they have hurt me in a deeper way by dismissing me because of my Blackness — and they have hurt all Black performers by continuing to perpetuate racism in the movie industry,” he said. “I want to ensure that future generations don’t have to endure the racism and whitewashing that I have experienced.”

Vince was recently involved in a different controversy that he isn’t sorry about.
