Jennifer Coolidge Supports Writer's Strike During MTV Movie & TV Award Winning Speech

Jennifer Coolidge is the latest winner of MTV’s Comedic Genius Award.

The White Lotus star, who also picked up the Most Frightened Performance popcorn honor, have a shout out to those at the Writer’s Strike in her acceptance speech.

“Thank you, MTV,” she started. “Thank you for honoring me with this incredible Comedic Genius Award.”

Jennifer then name dropped a few previous winners, who all started at Groundlings with her.

Then, Jennifer paid homage to the writers who are striking right now.

“Almost all great comedy starts with great writers and I just think that, you know, as a proud member of [SAG-AFTRA], I stand here before you tonight, side by side with my sisters and brothers from the WGA that are fighting right now, fighting for the rights of artists everywhere,” she said.

“I think of the words of Shakespeare where he once said, ‘The play is the thing.’ Well, I don’t wanna put words in his mouth or anything, but I think what he really meant was, it’s everything.”

Lala Kent will no longer be appearing at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards this weekend and she says it’s out of solidarity with the writers who are on strike.

The 32-year-old reality star and actress was set to appear alongside the cast of her Bravo series Vanderpump Rules.

The show is up for Best Docu-Reality Show and Lala is nominated for Best Reality On-Screen Team alongside Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, and Scheana Shay.

MTV Announces 38 Celebs for MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023 Presenters Lineup!

The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards will be taking place in just a couple weeks and the first round of presenters is packed with so many stars!

MTV has announced 38 celebs who will hit the stage to present during the awards show, which will air live from Los Angeles’ Barker Hangar on Sunday, May 7.

Drew Barrymore is hosting the annual event and the list of nominations was announced just a few weeks ago.

Not only will MTV air the event, it will be simulcasted across BET, BETHer, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, and VH1.

MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023 Nominations - Full List of Nominees Released!

MTV has announced the full list of nominees for the upcoming 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards!

Fan fave film Top Gun: Maverick leads the film-side of the nominations with 6 total. Stranger Things and The Last Of Us have the most nominations for TV shows, with 6 each as well.

There are actually two new categories for this year’s show: Best Reality On-Screen Team and Best Kick-Ass Cast!

Fans are able to vote now through April 17 for their faves. The show, hosted by Drew Barrymore, will air live on May 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles.
