Tyler Childers‘ collaborators are opening up about his latest music video.
Last week, the 32-year-old musician released the video for “In Your Love”, which is set in 1950s Appalachia and chronicles the love story between two male coalminers.
In an interview with Rolling Stone on Tuesday (August 3), the video’s stars Colton Haynes and James Scully, as well as writer Silas House, discussed what it was like working on the project with Tyler.
Tyler Childers is breaking country music boundaries with his new video.
The musician recruited Colton Haynes and James Scully for his “In Your Love” music video that was directed by Silas House.
In the video, James and Colton find love while working as coal miners in 1950s Appalachia country.
After being found out and attacked, they escape for a more peaceful life away from the mines.
“As a gay teenager who loved country music, I could have never imagined seeing myself in a video. That visibility matters. There have always been LGBTQ people in rural places and finally we’re seeing that portrayed in a country music video,” Silas shared in a statement about the video, which is seemingly the first video to feature a gay love story on a major label.
He added, “Tyler and I both felt the attention to detail about rural life was very important, so we made sure that the house and the people looked realistic for the time period instead of the stereotypes of country people that have become so ingrained in the public consciousness.”
After the video was released, Colton called the video “easily one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard @TTChilders . Such an honor to be a part of it ❤️.”
Frankie Bird is back with another new song following her reintroduction into the music world last month!
The California-based singer-songwriter, formerly known as FRANKIE, just dropped her new track “When We Were Young” along with an accompanying music video.
“When We Were Young is about the fallout of a relationship and friendship I had after mixing music, love and business; the first card to fall in my house of cards after building everything together and all the repercussions I faced when I was warned not to mix worlds,” Frankie said in a statement. “It’s about not knowing if you’ll ever get back what you had before you were romantic, when you were just best friends and none of the complications of business got in the way. Wishing you could go back to simpler times when you were young and free.”

Ryan Gosling flexes his muscles in a special new music video, “I’m Just Ken” for the Barbie movie.
In the visual, the 42-year-old actor shows off not only his acting, but singing chops, as Ken, who is very much trying to impress Margot Robbie‘s Barbie throughout the clip, while also musing about what life would be without her in it.
Soundtrack producer Mark Ronson told Variety that Ryan absolutely killed it on the song.
“It was so crazy,” he started. “[Ryan Gosling is] a huge star of this movie and only has three hours on a Tuesday afternoon to cut the vocals. He just went in and as he started to get warmed up I was like, ‘This guy is going to murder this song!’ Of course he would.”
Not only that, but to add a bit more to the “I’m Just Ken” power ballad, Guns N’ Roses‘ Slash was recruited for the amazing guitar moments.
“I’m so psyched. We worked on it for about a year after he did the vocals. After I sent him the final version, with Slash on it, he was psyched and satisfied, which is what you want to do when you’re making a sound for someone,” Mark adds.
Barbie opens in theaters on July 21. Watch the video below now!
