'The Boys' Gets a Season 3 Renewal Before Season 2 Premiere!

Amazon Studios has announced that a third season of The Boys has been ordered, before the second season of the series even airs!

The highly anticipated second season will debut on September 4 with the first three episodes and new episodes will be available each Friday, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9.

It was also announced that an after show series, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, will debut alongside the second season. Aisha Tyler will host the show and cast and crew of The Boys will make appearances to talk dissect the events that unfold in each episode.

“Amazon, in a bold and historic push to expand their ‘weirdo’ demographic, has greenlit Season 3 of The Boys! The writers and I are hard at work in the (virtual) writer’s room and we’re sad to say, the world has given us way too much material. We hope to be shooting in early 2021, but that’s up to a microscopic virus,” said showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke.

“As if that wasn’t enough, we’re bringing you a Season 2 after show, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys. Double entendre intended. Hosted by the incomparable Aisha Tyler and guest starring the cast and crew, it’s a deep dive into how we make this insane thing. Seriously, thanks to Sony, Amazon and the fans. We love making this show so much, and we’re thrilled we get to make more,” he added.

'The Boys' Returns to Amazon in September, But With a New Release Format

The second season of the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys has finally been given a release date!

The first season was a smash hit for the streaming service after it was released in July 2019. All eight episodes of the first season were released on the same day for a binge-watching experience, but Amazon is switching things up for season two.

The first three episodes of season two will be released on Friday, September 4 and new episodes will be available each Friday, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9.

Creator and executive producer Eric Kripke said, “We cannot WAIT to show you season two. It’s crazier, stranger, more intense, more emotional. In fact, it’s too much — so the Surgeon General** has insisted we air the first three episodes on September 4, then air the remaining five episodes weekly after that. We wanted to give you time to freak out, digest, discuss, come down from the high, before we give you another dose. We only have your well-being in mind. Hope you love the season as much as we do… **No, he didn’t.”

Season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

The Supes of The Seven also include Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).

Timothee Chalamet Gets Praise From 'Beautiful Boy' Writer Nic Sheff

Timothee Chalamet steps out for a reception for his film Beautiful Boy!

The 22-year-old Call Me by Your Name actor snapped some pics at the event held at Metrograph on Monday (December 10) in New York City.

He was joined by Nic Sheff, who, along with father David, wrote the best-selling pair of memoirs on which the film is based.

Petra Collins and Nathan Mitchell were also there to show their support.

Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years.

“So proud of @tchalamet for this nomination,” Nic wrote on Instagram, referring to Timothee‘s Golden Globe nomination. “As someone who lived it, I’ve honestly never seen a more true, authentic portrayal of what it’s like to struggle with this disease and be trapped in that relapse cycle. The amount of humanity and nuance he brought to this performance is just astonishing. And at 22 (21 when he shot this) it seems like something off a miracle to me.”

“But beyond that, I just couldn’t be prouder of who Timmy is as a person and what an incredible role model he is for young people — and all people, actually,” Nic added. “Can’t wait to see what he does next — and so grateful for all the hard work he’s put in to this film and to being of real service to our community. He’s seriously a good dude. We’re lucky to have him…”
